The 2023 Toyota Sequoia features a hybrid powertrain that delivers a robust 437 horsepower, along with substantial improvements in towing capacity and fuel efficiency compared to previous models.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota Sequoia makes a notable impact with its recent redesign, emphasizing both power and technology. It now comes equipped with a hybrid powertrain that seamlessly combines a twin-turbocharged V6 engine with an electric motor, resulting in impressive performance metrics, including a maximum towing capacity of 9,520 pounds and up to 22 mpg with rear-wheel drive. This capability sets it apart in the full-size SUV category.
However, the interior space and cargo capacity have been a point of contention, as the third row is cramped and overall storage is reduced compared to its competitors. Although it offers a modern and tech-savvy cabin with a large infotainment system and standard safety features, the Sequoia doesn't quite capture the same comfort level or cargo flexibility available in rival vehicles. The overall build quality remains commendable, but for buyers prioritizing passenger comfort and storage space, the Sequoia may require some compromise.
Whether you’re looking for a capable towing vehicle or an advanced family SUV, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia presents a compelling option, albeit with specific limitations that should be considered.

I compared the Capstone Sequoia to the GMC Yukon Denali. I think I could be happy with either one, but I will choose the Toyota because I like that the chassis comes from the Tundra truck so it is a proven and stiff frame. I also like the power outlets for 120 Vac & 12 Vdc.

The 2023 Toyota Sequioa is an SUV worth owning. Its huge, its luxurious and strong. However, I have two issues with the SUV... 1. The SUV is highly unaffordable. The price is more than $100,000 for some of the models and even the said cheaper ones are nowhere within reach at the dealerships. 2. Also, prior to its production, the 2023 Sequioa was advertised as having CAPTAIN chairs for the most part. I was disappointed to know that the ones with CAPTAIN chairs cost way more than the ones without it.

Got a chance to ride in a limited yesterday. I have owned Sequoias since 2007, we buy them for the room, quietness and solidness. The 2023 Limited that I drove was surprisingly a little bit sloppy on the ride. It has the punch of a turbo which was fun. The high end interior felt a little cheap, 3rd row space has evaporated and you now have to decide to take people or luggage, no longer both. Beautiful vehicle which it was better.

I drive a 2016 Sequoia,. I love the way it works for our large family! When I saw the new looks I was excited! I finally got to test drive one last week and was really disappointed. It no longer has the spacious interior that works for a large family. I’d say anyone. Over 5”6 in height will start to be too big for the back seats. My kids hated it in the back and begged me not to buy it. I wish they could have updated the look - and kept the functionality that families have loved for decades. The positives are that It handles well, is better on gas, is really great to look at and has great features. But the new ones no longer have space in the back for taller kids and all your stuff.
