How much does the 2023 Toyota GR86 cost?

Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.

There are 505 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota GR86 a good car?

The 2023 Toyota GR86 is a strong fit if you want a focused sports coupe that prioritizes driving feel over everyday convenience. It earns a 3.9/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating.

The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its fun driving experience, nimble handling, and affordability, and many describe it as a great sports car for enthusiasts. The expert review also highlights blissful handling dynamics, sharp acceleration, and straightforward controls.

The trade-offs are clear: the cabin can be noisy, the rear seat is small, and the infotainment system feels dated. That makes it best for you if you value back-road enjoyment and can live with limited practicality.

With 35.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2023 Toyota GR86 reliable?

The 2023 Toyota GR86 is built around a simple, enthusiast-friendly formula that should appeal if you want a car you can count on for driving enjoyment. Owners describe it as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use, and the expert review emphasizes a low center of gravity and a chassis tuned for confident cornering.

The performance write-up also points to a standard limited-slip differential and a well-sorted rear-wheel-drive layout, both of which support long-term drivability. If you plan to keep one used, the main ownership risk is that a hard-driven example may show wear faster than a more ordinary commuter car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota GR86?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a sports coupe like this may have been driven harder than average. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on tires, brakes, suspension, and signs of track use or modification. Pay close attention to cabin condition too, since the car’s enthusiast appeal can mean more wear than you’d expect from the mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Base trim includes manually adjustable front seats, cloth seating, push-button start, a digital speedometer, an 8-inch touchscreen, and 17-inch alloy wheels. The Premium trim adds 18-inch wheels, a duckbill rear spoiler, adaptive front headlights, larger brakes, heated sport bucket seats, leather and Ultrasuede upholstery, and an upgraded stereo.
• Powertrain: The GR86 uses a 2.4-liter horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine with 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. A six-speed manual is standard, and a six-speed automatic is available.
• Safety package: Automatic-transmission models include pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision throttle management, lane-departure warning, a lead-vehicle alert system, and high-beam assist. Premium trims add blind-spot monitoring and adaptive headlights that turn with the steering wheel.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus a fully digital instrument panel and a six-speaker stereo. The Premium trim upgrades to an eight-speaker audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The automatic returns 21 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 25 mpg combined. The manual returns 20 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Toyota GR86 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota GR86 is offered in 2 trim levels: Base and Premium.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the value play if you want the GR86 experience at the lowest entry price. You still get the core enthusiast formula: rear-wheel drive, a manual transmission, an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the car’s lightweight, driver-focused character.
• Premium: This is the better choice if you want the more complete version of the car. It adds the 18-inch wheels, upgraded tires, heated sport seats, blind-spot monitoring, adaptive headlights, larger brakes, and the better stereo, making it the best-value trim for most shoppers.

Premium trim also brings the added safety and convenience features that make the car easier to live with day to day.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota GR86?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to find a fair price.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 505 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,149, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota GR86's resale value?

The current average of $28,782 sits slightly above last year's $28,646.

That small increase suggests the GR86 has held its value fairly well for a niche sports coupe. If you buy one in good condition, you’re looking at a model with steady demand rather than a sharply depreciating one.

For a future seller, that’s encouraging because the market appears stable instead of volatile. A clean, well-kept example should remain easier to price confidently than many mainstream used cars.

Is the 2023 Toyota GR86 safe?

The 2023 Toyota GR86 has not been crash-tested by NHTSA, but it earned top marks from IIHS, including a best score of Superior for crash-prevention technology.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The automatic transmission version includes pre-collision braking, adaptive cruise control, pre-collision throttle management, lane-departure warning, a lead-vehicle alert system, and high-beam assist. Premium trims add blind-spot monitoring and adaptive headlights that turn with the steering wheel.

One important caveat is that these advanced driver-assistance features are tied to the automatic transmission, so manual-transmission shoppers give up some safety equipment.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota GR86 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• It keeps the GR86’s driver-focused formula with strong handling and straightforward controls.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,489, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $28,782 average.
• It introduced the redesigned GR86 formula with a sharper look and more modern equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year market with stable pricing and solid inventory, the 2023 is the safer all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better value path as long as you’re comfortable with the older model year.
