Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota 4Runner continues to build on its solid reputation as a rugged and reliable SUV, offering a blend of traditional SUV characteristics with modern technology enhancements. While its design has remained largely unchanged for over a decade, this model includes new trim levels, such as the limited-production 40th Anniversary Special Edition, which adds distinctive style elements like retro body stripes and exclusive interior features. Owners appreciate its comfort, spaciousness, and durability, making it an ideal choice for outdoor enthusiasts. However, potential buyers should be aware of its drawbacks: the fuel economy is less than stellar, and it struggles with on-road handling compared to more modern rivals. Overall, the 4Runner stands out for its off-road mastery and reliability, offering significant cargo space and a straightforward technology interface.
