Is the 2023 Tesla Model S a good car?

The 2023 Tesla Model S is a compelling used EV if you want a software-driven sedan with a strong technology story and a reputation for staying current without a full redesign. Its user rating is 2/5, and the overview points to a car that blends long-range capability, quick acceleration, and a minimalist, tech-heavy cabin with ongoing over-the-air improvements. That makes it especially relevant if you value a modern EV experience and can live without Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. With 27.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Tesla Model S reliable?

The 2023 Tesla Model S stands out as a long-running electric sedan that Tesla kept updating over time, with software upgrades playing a major role in how the car evolved. The overview also highlights ongoing improvements to autonomy, navigation, the user interface, battery optimization, and feature unlocks, which helps explain why it can feel current even as a used vehicle. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a tech-heavy EV can be more dependent on hardware condition and software support than a simpler car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Tesla Model S?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the battery, charging behavior, and any signs of uneven wear or repair history. It also makes sense to spend extra time checking the cabin controls and infotainment functions, since this model leans heavily on its software and touchscreen interface. Because the car’s appeal depends so much on its tech and condition, a clean history and a thorough inspection matter more than usual.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Tesla Model S?

This is a seller’s market, so you should act selectively and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 279 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.05% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 83.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $53,366, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Tesla Model S's resale value?

The current average of $59,162 sits slightly above last year's $55,265.

That upward move suggests the Model S has held onto demand well in the used market. If you buy carefully and keep the car in strong condition, that pricing trend can help support resale value later. For a future seller, the best-positioned cars will likely be the ones with clean history, strong battery health, and desirable equipment.

Should I buy a 2023 Tesla Model S or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.05% year-over-year.

The bottom line: The 2023 is a strong choice if you want a used Model S with a current-feeling tech story and you’re comfortable shopping carefully in a market that still favors sellers. If you’re more price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry point, but you should compare condition, history, and listing quality closely before deciding.
