Used 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata for Sale near Connecticut

How much does the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata cost?

Prices are up 2.49% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 370 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for shoppers to compare.

Is the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata a good car?

Yes — 4.75/5 from owners and 7.17/10 from our experts. The 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata is a two-seat, rear-drive sports car built around driving enjoyment rather than outright speed, and it delivers an open-air experience that makes everyday driving feel special. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Cost effectiveness.

The trade-offs are clear: the interior is a snug fit, cargo space is limited, and the car is not the most powerful or fastest choice in its class. Even so, the lightweight, focused setup and “street-legal go-kart” character make it a strong fit if you value fun over practicality.

Good and great deals account for 42.2% of listings, which points to a reasonably active market for value-minded shoppers.

Is the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata is built around a simple, lightweight formula, and that simplicity can be a plus when you’re thinking about ownership over time. Its performance setup is straightforward, with a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, rear-wheel drive, and a manual transmission standard on most trims. The cost-effectiveness angle also helps its case, since the model is positioned as a relatively affordable way to get a highly engaging roadster.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about the car’s exposed, compact sports-car design and the compromises that come with it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a low-slung sports car that may have been driven hard. Focus on overall condition, signs of wear in the cabin, and whether the car has been maintained consistently. If you’re shopping a convertible, make sure the top operates smoothly and seals properly.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sport is basic, the Club improves handling, and the Grand Touring adds more features, including leather seats and shiny wheels. The base trim is the most stripped-down choice, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want more comfort or convenience.
• Powertrain: The 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 181 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, and the rear-wheel-drive layout with a six-speed manual is central to the car’s appeal. The automatic is available, but it is not the preferred setup if you want the full Miata experience.
• Safety package: Mazda’s i-ActiveSense suite includes Smart City Brake Support with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. Grand Touring adds traffic sign recognition, adaptive front lighting, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing wipers.
• Infotainment: The Miata uses a 7-inch Mazda Connect screen with Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, text-messaging support, and E911 emergency notification. Club and Grand Touring add wireless Apple CarPlay, while Grand Touring is needed for native navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The test car returned 29 mpg in combined driving, and the review notes 30.2 mpg over 410.7 miles of driving.

Which 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Club, and Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point and the most affordable way into the Miata formula. It keeps the car focused on the essentials, so it suits you if you care most about the driving experience and want to keep costs down.
• Club: This is the best-value trim if you want the Miata’s enthusiast character with more capability. It improves handling, and it also brings the torque-sensing limited-slip differential, sport-tuned suspension, Bilstein shocks, and front shock tower brace.
• Grand Touring: This is the most comfort- and feature-rich choice. It adds leather seats, shiny wheels, wireless Apple CarPlay, native navigation, traffic sign recognition, adaptive front lighting, automatic high beams, rain-sensing wipers, and heated side mirrors.

Grand Touring also gets the top-trim safety and convenience additions, while Club and Grand Touring both include the wireless smartphone and audio upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 42.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 370 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.49% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 90.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,298, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata's resale value?

The current average of $29,182 sits slightly above last year's $28,472.

That upward move suggests the market still values this model year’s mix of driving fun and focused simplicity. For a future seller, that can be a positive sign because demand appears steady rather than softening. The year-round range also shows that well-priced examples can move quickly when they land near the lower end.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata safe?

The 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata is noted as potentially unsafe in a crash, and the review says you won’t find crash-test ratings for it.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

Mazda equips the car with i-ActiveSense, including Smart City Brake Support with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-departure warning. Grand Touring adds traffic sign recognition, adaptive front lighting, automatic high beams, and rain-sensing wipers.

The main caveat is the car’s lightweight, exposed roadster design in a world full of larger vehicles, which raises the risk profile for cautious buyers.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda MX-5 Miata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 42.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.8% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.49% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 keeps the Miata formula focused on lightweight, top-down driving enjoyment.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,896, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $29,182 average.
• It adds Kinematic Posture Control and keeps the enthusiast-focused manual-transmission setup.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,732, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $29,182 average.
• It adds sharper steering, a reworked limited-slip differential, and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, availability, and the classic Miata experience, the 2023 is the primary pick. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the smarter value play; if you want the newest updates and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
