Why it stands out
The 2023 Kia K5 stands out as a stylish midsize sedan that leans harder into sporty design than many of its classmates. Its narrow LED headlights, inset grille, fastback-like roofline, and full-width rear lighting give it a distinctive look, while the cabin pairs soft-touch materials and sturdy construction with a generally modern feel. It also offers a practical trunk with 16 cubic feet of cargo space, wide opening, and low load height, which makes it easier to use than its sleek shape might suggest.
For 2023, the K5’s appeal also comes from its mix of technology and everyday usability. The model year sits within the first-generation K5’s early run, when it still used analog gauges and an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen, with a larger 10.25-inch screen available. It also offered wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, dual-zone climate control, and available all-wheel drive on certain trims, which is unusual in this class. On the road, the base turbocharged engine was described as adequate rather than exciting, but the K5 still corners with confidence and delivers a comfortable ride.
There are tradeoffs, though. The K5 does not offer a hybrid option, and the sporty styling overpromises a bit relative to the driving experience, especially in the GT, where front-wheel-drive traction can be overwhelmed by the extra power. Rear-seat headroom is also limited by the panoramic sunroof, and larger wheels can hurt comfort. Even so, the 2023 Kia K5 remains appealing for buyers who want a midsize sedan with strong value, distinctive styling, and a good blend of features and practicality.

Features are nice! The car pricing was not a good value in my opinion. It’s pretty pricey. It’s missing storage space. I like cup holders in the doors and there aren’t any. I’m not sure what other models to compare it to.
