How much does the 2022 Kia K5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,354 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia K5 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong value for money. The expert review also points to its attractive styling and upscale cabin feel, which fit well if you want a midsize sedan that feels more distinctive than the average family car.

The trade-offs are fairly clear: performance is described as pedestrian, and the voice recognition system is unimpressive. Even so, the K5 makes sense if you want a stylish, comfortable sedan with good safety ratings and a strong value proposition in a shrinking segment.

Only 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is selective rather than deeply discounted.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback highlights a car that feels stylish, comfortable, and impressive on value, while also noting that many owners liked its smooth handling and fuel efficiency. That combination points to a sedan that many buyers can count on for everyday use.

The expert review also describes the K5 as a strong value with ownership perks, including a five-year/60,000-mile warranty, roadside assistance, and separate 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain protection. For used buyers, that helps reduce long-term ownership risk, though you should still verify maintenance history and condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia K5?

At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-trim car with more equipment. Focus on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any issues with electronics or driver-assistance features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX and LXS use the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while GT-Line and above move to a 10.25-inch screen but require a cable for smartphone projection. Higher trims also add more upscale equipment, and the EX Premium package brings features like a surround-view camera system and bumper sensors.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder makes 180 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque and is paired with an eight-speed automatic. The GT uses a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, but it is the most expensive and least efficient version.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. The EX Premium package adds cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, a surround-view monitoring system, and power rear child locks.
• Infotainment: The standard setup uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The larger 10.25-inch system adds satellite radio, Kia Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and Sounds of Nature ambient audio, but it loses the tuning knob and requires a cable for smartphone integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the standard turbo-four delivers decent fuel economy, and the K5 EX is rated at 31 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Kia K5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia K5 is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the K5’s core style and value. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup and don’t need extra convenience features.
• LXS: This trim adds the option of all-wheel drive, which is useful if you want extra traction without moving up too far in price. It’s a smart pick if you want a practical step up from the base model.
• GT-Line: This trim brings the larger 10.25-inch infotainment screen and more tech, but smartphone projection requires a cable. It’s a good choice if you want a more feature-rich cabin and are willing to trade away some simplicity.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more upscale feel and can be paired with the EX Premium package, which brings the surround-view camera system, bumper sensors, and more advanced driver-assistance features. If you want the most balanced mix of comfort, tech, and safety, this is the one to focus on.
• GT: Choose this if you want the strongest performance in the lineup, since it uses the 290-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter engine. It’s the enthusiast pick, but it is also the most expensive and least efficient version.

The safety tech is strong across the lineup, and the EX Premium package adds some of the most useful advanced features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia K5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough pricing softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,354 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,725, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia K5's resale value?

The current average of $19,725 sits slightly below last year's $21,834.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favorable if you plan to sell soon. A softer price environment can make it harder to recover top dollar later unless the car is especially clean, well maintained, and equipped with desirable features.

If you keep the car in strong condition and maintain service records, you’ll be in a better position when it’s time to trade or sell. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 safe?

The Kia K5 earns the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)—Top Safety Pick+. It also earns an overall five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. Higher trims and the EX Premium package add features such as cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, and a surround-view monitoring system.

One caveat is that the lane-keeping system can misread pavement scars, and the curve-control feature is helpful in some situations but not all. Even so, the overall safety package is a major strength for this model year.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia K5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds redesigned emblems and a new Premium option package for the GT-Line AWD with upgraded headlights, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, Highway Driving Assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,015, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,725 average.
• It launched the K5 nameplate with a fresh design and multiple powertrain choices.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong safety, and broad market availability, the 2022 is the better starting point. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 can be a smart alternative, especially if you find one in clean condition with the equipment you want.
