How much does the 2022 Kia K5 cost?

Prices have softened 9.53% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,334 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Kia K5 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable ride, and strong value for money. The K5 also gets credit for smooth handling and good fuel efficiency, which supports its appeal as a practical family sedan.

The trade-offs are fairly clear: performance is described as pedestrian, and the voice recognition system is unimpressive. Even so, the K5 fits well if you want a stylish midsize sedan that feels upscale without pushing into a larger or pricier class.

The market backs that up, with 33.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable, with many owners highlighting its comfortable ride and strong value over time. The expert evaluation also emphasizes ownership perks and a solid warranty package, which adds confidence for long-term use.

Kia’s five-year/60,000-mile warranty and separate 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain coverage help reduce ownership risk for used buyers, especially if you choose a well-maintained example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia K5?

At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a collision or has higher mileage. Focus on bodywork quality, panel alignment, tire wear, and whether the features work as advertised.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: LX and LXS use the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while GT-Line and above move to a larger 10.25-inch screen but require a cable for smartphone projection. Higher trims also add more upscale equipment, and the EX Premium package brings a surround-view camera system and bumper sensors.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 1.6-liter four-cylinder makes 180 hp and uses an eight-speed automatic. The GT gets a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 290 horsepower and an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic, while LXS and GT-Line can be had with AWD.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. Higher equipment adds cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, and a surround-view monitoring system.
• Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The larger 10.25-inch setup adds satellite radio, Kia Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, navigation, and Sounds of Nature ambient tracks, but it loses wireless smartphone projection.
• Fuel efficiency: The standard turbo-four is described as delivering 31 mpg in combined driving, and the test route returned 29.1 mpg.

Which 2022 Kia K5 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia K5 is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, LXS, GT-Line, EX, and GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the simplest way into the K5, and it gives you the standard 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live without the extra tech and convenience features found higher up.
• LXS: This trim adds more flexibility because it can be paired with AWD, which is useful if you want extra traction. It keeps the standard infotainment setup, so it remains a practical value choice.
• GT-Line: This is the best-value pick for many shoppers because it brings the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen and a more upscale feature set. If you want a nicer cabin and more available equipment without jumping to the pricier trims, this is the one to focus on.
• EX: This trim leans into comfort and convenience, and the available EX Premium package adds a surround-view camera system, bumper sensors, and more advanced driver-assistance features. It suits you best if you want a more polished daily driver.
• GT: This is the performance-oriented choice, with the 290-horsepower turbocharged 2.5-liter engine and dual-clutch automatic. Buy this one if you care most about acceleration and want the most powerful K5.

The safety tech is a strong point across the lineup, and the available Highway Driving Assist system is especially noteworthy on better-equipped trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia K5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully and compare listings.

• Deal availability: 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,334 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 73.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $19,671, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia K5's resale value?

The current average of $19,671 sits slightly below last year's $21,742.

That decline suggests the K5 has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect resale values to reflect the softer pricing environment rather than a strong upward trend.

The good news is that the K5 still has broad appeal thanks to its styling, comfort, and value. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia K5 safe?

The 2022 Kia K5 earns the highest possible safety rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and earns an overall five-star crash-test rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and lane-following assist. It also adds automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, a rear-seat reminder system, and Safe Exit Assist.

Higher trims and packages add cyclist detection, Junction Turning Assist, navigation-based adaptive cruise control, Highway Driving Assist with lane-centering assist, front and rear parking sensors, automatic rear braking, a surround-view monitoring system, and power rear child locks. The main caveat is that some of the most advanced features are reserved for better-equipped versions.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia K5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 73.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds a Premium option package for the GT-Line AWD with upgraded headlights, a heated steering wheel, a panoramic sunroof, Highway Driving Assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,909, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $19,671 average.
• It introduced the K5 nameplate with a fresh design and a more modern, style-forward approach.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price, features, and broad appeal, the 2022 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 can still make sense, especially if you find a clean example with the equipment you want.

How does the 2022 Kia K5 compare to the 2022 Hyundai Sonata?

Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)

2022 Kia K5:

• Pros: Stylish design, Comfortable, Great safety ratings.
• Cons: Fairly pedestrian performance, Unimpressive voice recognition system, Can't match the similar Hyundai Sonata for value.

2022 Hyundai Sonata:

• Pros: Quiet cabin, Standard advanced safety features, Great warranty.
• Cons: Potentially polarizing design, All-wheel drive not available.

Our experts score the 2022 Kia K5 7.8/10 and the 2022 Hyundai Sonata 8/10. The K5 is the more style-forward choice, while the Sonata edges it on overall value and gets the higher expert score. The K5 counters with available AWD and strong safety ratings, but the Sonata’s quieter cabin and standard advanced safety features make it the more well-rounded pick for many shoppers.
