How much does the 2023 Kia Forte cost?

Is the 2023 Kia Forte a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Forte earns a 4.6/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, impressive fuel economy, and comfortable ride. The feedback also points to a reliable, fun-to-drive character, with safety features often called out as a plus.

That lines up well with the overview: you get strong value without feeling like you’re settling for a bare-bones compact sedan, and it still aims to preserve quality and performance. The main trade-offs are an underwhelming base engine and some cabin materials that can feel a bit cheap in places.

With 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2023 Kia Forte reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback describes the Forte as reliable and fun to drive, and it also highlights a comfortable ride that should make daily use easier to live with. The expert evaluation adds that the car feels well-built and delivers solid value, which supports confidence in everyday dependability.

The ownership picture is helped by the Forte’s value-oriented positioning, but you should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition on used examples. A well-kept car is the best way to reduce long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Forte?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 79.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, especially signs of wear in the cabin and trunk area, since owners mention those areas can feel a bit cheap.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GT trims add bold red accents and a more distinctive look, while the interior keeps an older layout with a touchscreen mounted atop the dash and physical climate controls. Base trims are simpler, so check whether the features you want are standard or reserved for higher trims.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower and a CVT in the base setup, while the GT uses a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 201 hp and either a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic or a six-speed manual. The base setup is adequate, while the GT is the choice if you want more excitement.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver attention monitor. The LXS trim can add blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning and a safe passenger exit system, while GT-Line and higher trims can add adaptive cruise control and pedestrian/cyclist detection.
• Infotainment: Supporting trims come with an 8-inch touchscreen, while GT-Line and above get a 10.25-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless charging starts at GT-Line or higher.
• Fuel efficiency: The base LX is estimated at 34 mpg combined, other versions with the base powertrain are rated at 32 mpg combined, the automatic GT is estimated at 30 mpg combined, and the manual GT is estimated at 26 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Kia Forte trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Forte is offered in 2 trim levels: LX and GT.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the value-focused choice if you want the lowest entry price and the best fuel economy in the lineup. It gives you the core Forte experience without pushing you into pricier equipment, so it makes the most sense if you care most about affordability and efficiency.
• GT: This is the pick if you want the strongest performance and the most engaging driving experience. It adds the turbocharged engine, available manual transmission, and sport-tuned suspension, making it the better fit if you want the Forte to feel more lively.

Safety content also notes that some base forward collision mitigation features do not meet the Administration’s performance criteria, while available upgrades do.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Forte?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,135 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 79.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,489, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Forte's resale value?

The current average of $17,890 sits slightly below last year's $18,304.

That softer pricing suggests the Forte has become a bit easier to buy than it was a year ago, which can help you as a shopper today. For a future seller, it also means resale expectations should stay grounded rather than aggressive.

The good news is that the Forte’s value reputation and strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, you should be in a better position to protect resale value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Forte safe?

The 2023 Kia Forte earns four-star ratings for overall, frontal, side, and rollover protection from NHTSA, and the IIHS gave it a Poor result in the updated front moderate overlap and side impact tests.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver attention monitor. The LXS trim can add blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic warning and a safe passenger exit system, while GT-Line and higher trims can add adaptive cruise control and pedestrian/cyclist detection.

One important caveat is that some base forward collision mitigation features do not meet the Administration’s performance criteria, though available upgrades do. That makes trim selection and option content especially important if safety is a top priority.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Forte or consider a different year?

The bottom line: The 2023 is the better all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of value, comfort, and current-market availability. If your main goal is to spend less up front, the 2022 is the smarter budget-first alternative.
