Is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Sonata earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a midsize sedan with sleek styling, strong feature content, and a wide range of powertrain choices, so you get a car that leans into value and everyday usability. It also emphasizes roomy back-seat and trunk space, plus a long list of standard safety and tech features, which makes it appealing if you want a well-equipped commuter or family sedan. With 36.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the Sonata as having good reliability and safety rankings, along with a reputation for being a relaxing, well-equipped cruiser. That combination suggests you’re looking at a used sedan that should fit well if you want a low-stress daily driver with modern features. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is buying a neglected example, so condition and maintenance history matter more than the model’s overall reputation.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with a history report to confirm the car’s accident record and check for title issues or repeated damage. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of the tires, brakes, electronics, and interior wear, since the Sonata’s value depends heavily on how well its feature-rich cabin has been maintained. Focus on overall condition and make sure every safety and tech feature works as expected before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough deal activity to reward patience.

• Deal availability: 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,246 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,718, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $21,025 sits slightly below last year's $21,302.

That small decline suggests the Sonata has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car has been maintained. Because the model still has broad appeal and strong equipment content, a clean, well-kept example should remain easier to move than a neglected one.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.30% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $19,182, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $21,025 average.
• It emphasizes exceptional value and an outstanding warranty.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2023 if you want the stronger current-market balance of features, inventory, and buyer confidence. If your main goal is to spend less upfront, the 2022 is the better value play, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
