Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Palisade earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its comfortable ride, great value, and excellent features, and they also highlight its spaciousness, especially in the third row. The main trade-offs are that some drivers want more engine power and would prefer features like folding side view mirrors and wireless Apple CarPlay.

For family-focused buyers, the Palisade’s roomy cabin and polished presentation line up well with its role as Hyundai’s flagship SUV. With 43.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market also looks reasonably shopper-friendly.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with owners repeatedly emphasizing value, comfort, and features they can count on. The expert review also underscores Hyundai’s strong warranty coverage and complimentary scheduled maintenance, which help reduce early ownership stress.

That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to service history and overall condition, especially on higher-mileage examples, because long-term durability always depends on how the vehicle was maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, confirm that the trim and equipment match the listing, and inspect the cabin and electronics for wear or missing features. Pay extra attention to seating configuration, since some trims prioritize seven-passenger comfort while others can be configured for eight.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE starts with cloth seats and a six-way power-adjustable driver seat, while higher trims add heated, eight-way power-adjustable front seats and more upscale materials. The top Calligraphy trim adds premium rear accent lighting, a unique grille, and a more luxurious interior feel, while the XRT brings darker exterior accents and skid plates.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on any trim.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense is standard and includes forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with stop and go and curve control, intelligent speed limit assist, and safe exit warning. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on SE, SEL, and XRT, while Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a standard 12.3-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, and WiFi hotspot capability. Wireless charging is standard on all but the base trim, and Digital Key 2 Touch is standard on SEL and up.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel-drive models return 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined, while all-wheel-drive models return 19 city, 25 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2023 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already gives you the standard V6, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, WiFi hotspot capability, and Hyundai Smart Sense safety tech. It’s the trim to choose if you want the lowest entry price and still want a well-equipped family SUV.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while keeping the price below the luxury-oriented upper trims. It also unlocks useful upgrades like available Digital Key 2 Touch, the available Harman Kardon audio system, and the Premium package that brings many high-end features without jumping all the way to Limited.
• XRT: This trim is for you if you want a more rugged look, with dark exterior accents, roof cross rails, skid plates, and black 20-inch wheels. It also gets Highway Driving Assist I standard, but it skips some of the more upscale cabin features found higher up.
• Limited: This is the step-up choice if you want a more premium experience, including standard heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, heated third-row seats, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a standard head-up display. It’s the trim that most clearly moves the Palisade into near-luxury territory.
• Calligraphy: This is the top luxury pick, with premium Nappa leather, distinctive exterior details, and the most upscale presentation in the lineup. If you want the most polished Palisade and don’t mind paying for it, this is the one to target.

Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy, while the rear seat occupant alert is standard on all but the SE trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

It looks like a buyer’s market, with meaningful inventory and a healthy share of discounted listings.

• Deal availability: 43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,632 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.97% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,223, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $31,223 sits slightly below last year's $35,071.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For future sellers, the current softness means condition, mileage, and trim choice will matter even more when it’s time to list.

Strong owner satisfaction can help support demand later, especially for a family SUV with a good reputation and broad appeal. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade earned a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the 2023 model adds new active and passive safety features, including second-row side-impact airbags.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai Smart Sense is standard, and the feature list includes forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with stop and go and curve control, intelligent speed limit assist, and safe exit warning. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on SE, SEL, and XRT, while Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy.

The main caveat is that the 2023 model had not yet been rated by IIHS at the time of review, so the strongest published crash-test result still belongs to the prior model year.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 43.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.97% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a facelift plus more standard and optional tech and safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,915, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $31,223 average.
• It offers a spacious, attractive three-row layout with a quiet cabin.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $34,011, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $31,223 average.
• It adds standard three-zone climate control and Bluelink+ connected services.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around pick if you want the refreshed design, stronger feature set, and broad market availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the smarter value play; if you want newer features and don’t mind paying more, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
