What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full inspection. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment, seat configuration, and whether the features you want are standard or optional on the exact vehicle you’re considering. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful if you want to confirm condition, electronics, and safety-system operation.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE comes with cloth seats and a six-way power driver seat, while higher trims add leatherette or leather, heated front seats, and more upscale cabin features. The top trims also add heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, heated third-row seats, and second-row captain’s chairs, while the lower trims are the ones that can still be configured for eight passengers.
• Powertrain: Every 2023 Palisade uses a 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on any trim.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense is standard and includes forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with stop and go and curve control, and intelligent speed limit assist. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on SE, SEL, and XRT, while Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 12.3-inch color touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM, and Bluetooth. WiFi hotspot capability is standard, and wireless charging is standard on all but the base trim.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel-drive models return 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined. All-wheel-drive models return 19 city, 25 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2023 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price and a strong standard safety and tech list. It gives you the core Palisade experience, but you give up some of the comfort and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more comfort and convenience features, plus available upgrades that bring it closer to the higher trims. If you want a smart balance of price and equipment, this is the one to focus on.
• XRT: Choose this if you want the more rugged-looking trim with dark exterior accents, roof cross rails, skid plates, and black 20-inch wheels. It adds style and a distinct personality, but it is not the trim to choose if your priority is maximum luxury.
• Limited: This is the sweet spot if you want a more upscale cabin with leather-trimmed seating, heated and ventilated front and second-row seats, a heated third row, a digital instrument cluster, and a head-up display. It also gets the stronger safety and convenience setup that makes daily use easier.
• Calligraphy: This is the most luxurious choice, with premium Nappa leather, distinctive exterior details, and the most complete feature set. Buy this if you want the most premium Palisade experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but Highway Driving Assist II is only available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,693 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,873, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $30,873 sits slightly below last year's $34,841.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer now, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it comes time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade safe?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade has not been rated as of this writing, but the 2022 model earned a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai Smart Sense is standard, with forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping and lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with stop and go and curve control, and intelligent speed limit assist. Safe exit warning is also standard, and rear seat occupant alert is standard on all but the SE trim.

Highway Driving Assist I is standard on SE, SEL, and XRT, while Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy. The main caveat is that the 2023 model itself has not been rated yet, even though the prior model earned top marks.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a facelift, more standard tech and safety features, and the new XRT trim.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,577, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $30,873 average.
• It offers a spacious, attractive three-row layout with a quiet cabin.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $33,551, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,873 average.
• It adds standard three-zone climate control and Bluelink+ connected services.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updated features, strong owner satisfaction, and broad inventory, the 2023 is the primary pick. If price matters most, the 2022 is the better value path, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer feature set and are willing to pay more.
