What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully, even when the market looks clean, because a good listing percentage does not replace documentation. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on interior wear, seat condition, electronics, and signs of heavy family use. You’ll also want to confirm that the features you care about are present on the specific trim you’re considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base SE brings cloth seats, a six-way power driver seat, and second-row bench seating, while higher trims add leatherette or leather, more power adjustment, and more premium lighting and wheel treatments. The top trims also add heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats, heated third-row seats, and second-row captain’s chairs, so base-trim shoppers should pay close attention to feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The Palisade uses a single 3.8-liter V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available on any trim.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense is standard and includes forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with stop and go and curve control, and intelligent speed limit assist. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on SE, SEL, and XRT, while Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch color touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, and standard WiFi hotspot capability. Wireless charging is standard on all but the base trim, and Digital Key 2 Touch is standard on SEL and up.
• Fuel efficiency: Front-wheel-drive models return 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined, while all-wheel-drive models return 19 city, 25 highway, and 21 combined.

Which 2023 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, XRT, Limited, and Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Palisade’s core comfort, safety, and tech without paying for extras. It gives you the standard V6, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, and the full Smart Sense safety suite, but it’s the most basic way into the lineup.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more comfort and convenience while staying below the luxury-oriented upper trims. It also unlocks useful upgrades like available premium audio, available Digital Key 2 Touch, and the option to build in more of the higher-trim equipment through packages.
• XRT: This trim is for you if you want a more rugged look and some distinct styling touches without moving all the way up the price ladder. It adds unique exterior details, roof cross rails, and standard single sunroof equipment, while keeping the Palisade’s family-friendly character intact.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale experience with standard premium audio, a digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, and heated and ventilated first- and second-row seats. It’s the sweet spot for shoppers who want luxury-like features without going all the way to Calligraphy.
• Calligraphy: This is the top choice if you want the most premium Palisade experience, including the most distinctive exterior and interior touches, premium Nappa leather, and the richest standard equipment list. It’s the right pick if you want the flagship feel and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but Highway Driving Assist II is reserved for SEL and up, and it becomes standard on Limited and Calligraphy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,645 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,713, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $30,713 sits slightly below last year's $34,748.

That price movement suggests the Palisade has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a seller, that means your upside is better if you buy near the lower end of the range and keep the vehicle in strong condition. Demand should remain supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and family-friendly reputation.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade earned a Top Safety Pick+ from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and the 2023 model adds new active and passive safety features, including second-row side-impact airbags.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai Smart Sense is standard and includes forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, navigation-based Smart Cruise Control with stop and go and curve control, and intelligent speed limit assist. Safe exit warning is standard on all trims, and rear seat occupant alert is standard on all but the SE trim. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on SE, SEL, and XRT, while Highway Driving Assist II is available on SEL and standard on Limited and Calligraphy.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds a facelift, more standard and optional tech, and more safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $25,492, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $30,713 average.
• It offers a spacious, polished family SUV with a quiet cabin.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $33,404, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,713 average.
• It adds standard three-zone climate control and Bluelink+ connected services.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of updated features, strong owner satisfaction, and a softer used-market price, the 2023 is the primary pick. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 can still make sense, while the 2024 is worth considering if you want the newer feature set and are willing to pay more.
