How much does the 2023 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 3.87% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,940 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Honda CR-V earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, quality interior, and strong safety and economy. The CR-V also stands out for being comfortable, roomy, and easy to live with, with plenty of cargo space for everyday use. On the trade-off side, the transmission can be irritating, the styling is conservative, and the tech package does not feel especially innovative.

For you, that means the CR-V makes the most sense if you want a practical compact SUV that prioritizes comfort and utility over flash. With 39.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is also a decent amount of market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. Drivers describe it as smooth, dependable, and a vehicle they feel good about for everyday use, with particular praise for its safety and economy. The expert review also emphasizes that the CR-V is refined, well executed, and built to be easy to live with over the long haul.

Honda’s complimentary maintenance plan for two years or 24,000 miles adds a little ownership support early on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t been abused.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check the transmission behavior, interior condition, and overall wear. It also makes sense to focus on how well the tech and driver-assistance features work in real-world use, since those are important parts of the CR-V’s appeal.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX and EX-L share the same exterior look, but the EX-L adds leather-wrapped seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a larger touchscreen, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. If you want the best value, the EX-L is the stronger pick because it adds the most noticeable comfort and convenience upgrades.
• Powertrain: Both trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT. It is plenty for a compact SUV and delivers impressive fuel economy, but the transmission can drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist. The system is comprehensive, though lane-centering can feel uncertain in some situations.
• Infotainment: The EX gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the test vehicle returned 29.1 mpg on a mountainous evaluation route, and the EPA estimate cited in the review was 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is offered in 2 trim levels: EX and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CR-V experience with the turbocharged engine, the standard safety suite, a 7-inch touchscreen, and the practical cabin layout. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the redesigned CR-V and do not need the extra convenience features.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim because it adds the most meaningful upgrades for daily use, including leather upholstery, a larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, a power liftgate, and parking sensors. If you plan to keep the CR-V for a while, this is the trim most shoppers should target.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up for the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,940 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.87% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,553, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $28,553 sits slightly below last year's $29,704.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you are thinking about near-term resale. For a future seller, the good news is that the CR-V still has broad appeal because it is practical, comfortable, and well regarded by owners. That kind of demand usually helps a used SUV hold value better than a less popular alternative.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda CR-V has not yet been fully re-tested by NHTSA or IIHS after its redesign.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist. The system is broad and well rounded, though lane-centering can feel uncertain in some highway situations.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 39.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.87% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings a redesigned cabin, updated infotainment, and expanded safety tech, while still keeping the CR-V’s familiar comfort and practicality.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned CR-V with updated tech and strong everyday usability, the 2023 is the right target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare it carefully against nearby model years and shop for the cleanest, best-priced example rather than focusing only on the newest version.
