How much does the 2023 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 3.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 5,826 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used CR-Vs to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — with a 4.71/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, the 2023 Honda CR-V lands as a strong all-around pick. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, quality interior, and great features, and they also respond well to its safety and economy. In practical terms, that lines up with the CR-V’s roomy cabin, comfortable driving manners, and useful cargo space.

The trade-offs are the irritating transmission, uninspired styling, and limited technological ambition compared with some rivals. Even so, the CR-V’s space, comfort, and improved equipment make it a compelling choice if you want a practical compact crossover rather than something flashy.

With 37.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The user feedback also points to reliability-minded ownership, with drivers describing the CR-V as dependable and trouble-free in everyday use.

The expert review reinforces that impression by emphasizing the SUV’s refined execution, quality, and overall polish. Honda also includes complimentary maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the core package and more about condition, maintenance history, and whether the transmission has been treated well over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example or one with incomplete service records. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and how the vehicle drives under acceleration and at highway speeds.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX and EX-L look similar on the outside, but the EX-L adds leather-wrapped seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a larger touchscreen, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. The EX is the simpler, lower-cost entry point, while the EX-L is the better-equipped choice if you want more convenience and a more upscale cabin.
• Powertrain: Both trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission. The setup is strong enough for a compact SUV, but the transmission can drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, a driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist. The lane-centering system can feel uncertain in some highway transitions.
• Infotainment: The EX gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 29.1 mpg on a mountainous evaluation route, and the EPA said it should get 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is offered in 2 trim levels: EX and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CR-V experience with the turbocharged engine, the standard safety suite, a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the roomy, comfortable cabin the model is known for. It is the value play if you want the essentials without paying for extras.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete non-hybrid CR-V. It adds the larger 9-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, a better sound system, leather upholstery, a power rear liftgate, parking sensors, and a few more convenience features that make daily use easier.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up for the core driver-assistance package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 5,826 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,914, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $29,054 sits slightly below last year's $29,983.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than on broad market appreciation.

The CR-V’s strong reputation for comfort, utility, and owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda CR-V has not yet been fully re-tested by NHTSA or IIHS in the source material, so there is no crash-test rating to cite here.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, a rear-seat reminder system, driver monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist.

The main caveat is that lane-centering assist can feel uncertain in some highway transition situations, and it can add an artificial feel to the steering. Even so, the overall safety package is broad and well-rounded for the class.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a roomier cabin, updated infotainment, and expanded safety tech.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned CR-V with better tech, more standard safety equipment, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the right target. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry cost, but you may give up some of the 2023’s updated equipment and refinement.
