How much does the 2023 Ford Ranger cost?

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford Ranger earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a practical midsize pickup. The overview points to strong truck credentials, including the highest payload capacity in its class at the time and a 7,500-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. It also gives you rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, plus a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that balances usefulness with relative efficiency. The tradeoff is that the cabin and infotainment are dated, and some active-safety tech is optional rather than standard. Still, if you want a work-ready midsize truck with solid capability and value versus some rivals, it fits that use case well. 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests a truck built around straightforward hardware, with a turbocharged four-cylinder, a 10-speed automatic, and available rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. That kind of setup can be appealing if you want a proven, no-frills midsize pickup with strong utility. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright complexity and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard by truck duty.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on truck-use wear, especially signs of heavy towing, off-road use, or neglected maintenance. Pay close attention to overall condition, because the Ranger’s value depends heavily on whether it has been used as a work truck or kept in lighter-duty service.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,031 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,034, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $31,034 sits slightly below last year's $33,231.

That softer pricing can help you buy more affordably now, but it also means future resale will depend on how well the market holds up from here. If prices stabilize, a well-kept Ranger should remain reasonably attractive because it still offers strong towing and payload credentials. If you plan to resell later, condition and documented maintenance will matter a lot, especially on a truck that may have seen hard use.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $38,499, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $31,034 average.
• It adds more engines, trims, and a more modern feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2023 if you want a capable midsize truck at a lower price and can live with its older cabin and tech. If you want more refinement, more choice, and a newer-feeling truck, the 2024 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2023 remains the smarter value play.
