Awesome car, seats aren’t full leather but still look awesome. Safety and tech features are above par, drives really nice.

I like the trailer hook up, the mobile office, dual glove box on the dash. The truck is comfortable and performs well. It gets the same fuel mileage as a Toyota and is much roomier and can haul a lot more by volume and weight. The price has gone up lately because ford has problems making new ones. This will pass and the price should go back down.

Can’t beat the coyote 5L V8. Great engine. Truck was overpriced, though all truck prices are inflated right now. Stop making trucks so luxury and just focus on the things a truck should do.

Thought I got a great deal on the truck, which is loaded with features. Bought my last truck, another F150, 22 years ago. Love those Ford trucks. The truck has many new features than the 2003 but the overall performance and great look remains the same. Got 4x4 this time also!

Is the 2023 Ford F-150 a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Ford F-150 earns a 4.94/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise the powerful performance, smooth ride, and modern features like the large touchscreen and advanced safety tech. The truck also gets credit for its versatility and broad range of configurations, which makes it easier to tailor to work or family use. On the downside, some owners feel the pricing is a bit high and that the luxury features may be more than you need.
From an expert perspective, the F-150’s strengths include class-leading capability, strong technology, and a well-rounded driving experience. The trade-offs are that the test truck’s ride could feel harsh and skittish when unloaded, and some interior materials come across as cheap.
For you, that means the F-150 makes the most sense if you want a highly configurable full-size truck with broad capability and modern tech. 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there are still opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Ford F-150 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.94/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, smooth, and modern, while also being something people feel good about living with over time. That kind of praise usually lines up with a dependable ownership experience, especially when the truck’s strengths are consistency and everyday usability. The expert evaluation also describes the F-150 as structurally solid and quiet at freeway speeds, which supports the impression of a truck you can count on.
Ford’s maintenance-friendly ownership story gets a boost from the included first scheduled maintenance visit. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about the truck’s core durability and more about how much wear, equipment complexity, and prior use the specific example has seen.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford F-150?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has towing, off-road, or heavy-use equipment. Focus on condition, because the F-150 can be optioned heavily and the difference between a basic truck and a loaded one can be substantial. It’s also worth checking whether the features you care about are actually present on the specific truck you’re considering.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The lineup spans work-focused to performance-focused versions, and the base setup can leave you without some of the nicer comfort and convenience features found higher up the range.
- Powertrain: You can get multiple engine choices, including a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 that delivers strong acceleration and pairs with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
- Safety package: Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 bundles automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking. The Assist portion adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, evasive steering assist, intersection assist for left turns, and speed-sign recognition.
- Infotainment: Sync 4 includes a 12-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air software updates.
- Fuel efficiency: The test truck returned 17 mpg in combined driving, while EPA expectations were 19 mpg combined.
Which 2023 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Ford F-150 is offered in 8 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, Limited, Tremor, Raptor.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: XL is the work-focused starting point, so you give up a lot of the comfort, convenience, and upscale touches that make the F-150 feel more modern.
- Sweet-spot trim: XLT is the best value pick because it brings the core tech and everyday usability without pushing you into expensive luxury territory.
- Premium/top trim: Platinum and Limited are the right choices if you want more luxury and tech, but they can get expensive quickly.
- Off-road trim: Tremor is the better daily-driver compromise if you want off-road capability without going all the way to the most extreme performance setup.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is the safety package to look for if you want the most complete driver-assistance setup.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford F-150?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you have room to shop, but the best examples still move quickly.
- Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 9,620 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $41,960.09, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Ford F-150's resale value?
The current average of $43,547 sits slightly below last year's $43,963.
That small decline suggests the market has stayed relatively stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern is helpful because it points to predictable demand and less risk of a sudden value drop. It also means well-kept trucks should remain easier to price confidently when you decide to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.94/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Ford F-150 safe?
It earns high marks from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and nothing but five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, coupled with a four-star rollover resistance rating.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
Ford Co-Pilot360 Assist 2.0 is the named driver-assistance suite, and it includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors, and automatic reverse braking. The Assist portion adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-centering assist, evasive steering assist, intersection assist for left turns, and speed-sign recognition.
The system is broadly strong, but the lane-centering behavior can be a little aggressive in tighter situations, and the truck may slow more than you expect on curving roads. Even so, the overall safety package is a major strength, especially if you want a truck with a deep roster of standard driver aids.
Should I buy a 2023 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.94/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- This year brings the debut of the Raptor R and the XLT Heritage Edition.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $48,165, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $43,547 average.
- It adds a multi-functional tailgate.
The bottom line: the 2023 is the better value if you want a strong mix of capability, tech, and market stability without paying more for the next model year. If you’re price-sensitive, the 2023 gives you the more attractive entry point while still delivering the core strengths that make the F-150 such a popular choice.
