Is the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

The Bronco Raptor is aimed at you if you want a trail-ready SUV with serious capability rather than a conventional daily driver. Its strengths include amazing off-road abilities, strong powertrains, and easy-to-use technology. The trade-offs are clear too: it is not very fuel efficient, and it brings lots of road noise.

Is the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Bronco Raptor’s reliability story is tied to its rugged mission and straightforward hardware. The test-drive notes emphasize strong power delivery, durable off-road-focused engineering, and controls that are easy to live with. The infotainment system is also described as logical and easy to use, which helps reduce day-to-day frustration.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a vehicle built for hard trail use can show wear faster than a more conventional SUV, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has seen off-road use. Focus on suspension, tires, underbody components, and signs of hard use or poor repairs. Because this model is built for rugged driving, condition can matter more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Bronco lineup spans Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Heritage Edition, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades, Heritage Limited Edition, and Bronco Raptor. The Base trim is the most stripped-down, with an 8-inch touchscreen, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and steel wheels, so you may want to move up if you want more comfort and convenience.
• Powertrain: The Bronco Raptor uses a twin-turbo V6 with 410 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, plus 37-inch tires and advanced Fox shock absorbers. The standard Bronco engines are a 2.3-liter turbo-four with 300 horsepower and a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 with 330 horsepower.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and automatic high beams. Big Bend adds lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front parking sensors are available as an option.
• Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto. An available 12-inch touchscreen adds navigation, and the layout is designed to be easy to use.
• Fuel efficiency: The Bronco Raptor returns 15 mpg city, 16 highway, and 15 combined. The most efficient Bronco version returns 20 mpg city, 21 highway, and 20 combined.

Which 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor trim should I buy?

The 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor is offered in 10 trim levels: Base, Big Bend, Black Diamond, Outer Banks, Heritage Edition, Badlands, Wildtrak, Everglades, Heritage Limited Edition, and Bronco Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• Base: This is the most affordable way into the Bronco, but it is also the most basic. You get the 8-inch touchscreen, cloth upholstery, manually adjustable front seats, and steel wheels, so it suits you best if you want the Bronco shape and capability without extra comfort features.
• Big Bend: This trim adds 17-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 32-inch mud-terrain tires, plus fog lights and access to more options and packages. It is a sensible step up if you want a better-equipped Bronco without jumping too far in price.
• Black Diamond: This trim adds rubberized flooring with drain plugs, a locking differential, steel bumpers, steel skid plates, and vinyl upholstery. It is a strong choice if you want more trail-ready hardware and easier cleanup after messy adventures.
• Outer Banks: This trim adds more driver-assistance features, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, remote start, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a wall-style power outlet. It is the best-value pick if you want a more comfortable daily driver with useful convenience upgrades.
• Heritage Edition: This trim focuses on style with a white grille, wheels, roof, white pin-stripes, and unique lettering. It suits you if you want the Bronco’s retro look more than extra capability.
• Badlands: This trim adds a beefed-up suspension with Bilstein shocks, locking front and rear differentials, 33-inch all-terrain tires, and a disconnecting front sway bar. It is the right choice if you want serious off-road hardware without going all the way to the Raptor.
• Wildtrak: This trim combines much of the running gear and creature comforts from the other upper trims. It is a good fit if you want a well-rounded Bronco with strong capability and more equipment.
• Everglades: This trim also blends much of the upper-trim hardware and comfort mix. It makes sense if you want a distinctive Bronco with a similar capability-first formula.
• Heritage Limited Edition: This trim uses the 2.7-liter V6 as standard and sits among the more specialized upper trims. It is for you if you want a more exclusive Bronco with stronger standard equipment.
• Bronco Raptor: This is the range-topping trim, with larger fender flares, a taller suspension, 37-inch tires, a reinforced frame, and an exclusive powertrain. It is the one to buy if you want the most extreme Bronco experience and are willing to pay for it.

The safety package expands as you move up the lineup, with Big Bend adding several key driver-assistance features beyond the standard equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 693 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.23% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 95.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $64,572, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor's resale value?

The current average of $64,586 sits slightly below last year's $71,154.

That decline suggests the market has become more favorable for buyers, but it also means sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the current trend can work against top-dollar resale in the short term, especially if your vehicle has visible wear or a rough history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor safe?

The Bronco earns Good ratings in most IIHS evaluation areas, with Acceptable for rear crash protection and Marginal for headlights. It also earns three-star and four-star ratings from NHTSA in rollover and frontal crash testing, respectively.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, and automatic high beams. Big Bend adds lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front parking sensors are available as an option.

The lower headlight score is the main caveat to keep in mind when you evaluate this SUV’s safety profile.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Bronco Raptor or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 95.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• This year’s Bronco Raptor is the range-topping version with a reinforced frame, 37-inch tires, and an exclusive powertrain.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $61,228, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $64,586 average.
• It is described as an extreme off-road SUV with strong real-world usability.

The bottom line: If you want the newest pricing context and the most current version of the Bronco Raptor, the 2023 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you can live with an older model year, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path.
