How much does the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD cost?

Prices have softened 8.30% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,617 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD a good car?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD stands out as a true heavy-duty workhorse, built for buyers who need serious towing and payload capability rather than everyday light-truck compromises. It is also offered in a wide range of configurations, including regular cab, crew cab, and extended cab body styles, with most models in single rear-wheel form and some available with dual rear wheels.

What makes this generation especially appealing is how much capability and technology it packs into such a large truck. The 2023 Silverado 3500HD offers two V8 engines, including an optional Duramax turbodiesel that produces 445 horsepower and 910 pound-feet of torque, and it can be equipped with features such as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an advanced trailering app with detailed camera views. It also offers useful hardware like the Multi-Flex Tailgate and, uniquely in its segment, a power up/down tailgate.

At the same time, it is not the most refined choice in the class: the cabin has been criticized as too basic compared with Ford and especially Ram, and the truck is said to lag those rivals in driving dynamics and fuel economy. 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance to find value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD reliable?

The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD is described as a capable, feature-rich heavy-duty truck with a comfortable and functional cabin, especially for buyers who need serious towing and payload ability. It also brings useful trailering-focused technology and a broad configuration range, which supports its appeal for demanding work use.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that this is a large, capability-first truck, so maintenance and repair costs can be more consequential if the truck has been worked hard or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on signs of heavy towing, suspension wear, brake condition, and any evidence of hard commercial use. It also makes sense to compare service records closely, since condition and maintenance history matter a lot on a truck built for serious work.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop, but the best listings still deserve quick attention.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,617 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $51,462, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD's resale value?

The current average of $51,462 sits slightly below last year's $56,120.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened enough to help you buy more selectively today. If you plan to sell later, the current market shows that heavy-duty trucks can still hold meaningful value, but timing and condition will matter. A well-kept example with strong service history and clean history-report results should be easier to move than one with signs of hard use.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado 3500HD or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.30% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right path if you want a heavy-duty truck with strong capability, broad configuration choices, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2023 is the better starting point when you want a balance of inventory, value, and capability.
