Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5 a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Cadillac CT5 earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its performance, handling, and comfort, and many also highlight the smooth ride and strong acceleration. The CT5’s distinctive styling and impressive technology are recurring strengths, too.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review points to a lack of refinement and isolation, along with limited cargo space. That matters most if you want a quiet, ultra-polished luxury sedan with generous practicality.

If you want a midsize luxury sedan with personality, sharp road manners, and strong tech, the CT5 fits that brief well. The market also shows 34.6% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on performance, handling, comfort, and a smooth ride. The expert review also describes the CT5 as a bargain relative to some midsize luxury rivals, which can help make ownership feel more rewarding over time.

The technology and driving character suggest a car you can count on for a satisfying ownership experience, especially if you value a distinctive luxury sedan. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the same refinement and isolation compromises that show up in testing may remain part of the ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Cadillac CT5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example. Focus on cabin condition, road noise, and how well the car’s technology and driver-assistance features work in real-world use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CT5-V adds a more aggressive setup than the standard CT5, including a sport-tuned suspension, magnetic dampers, an electronic limited-slip differential, and quad exhaust tips. The base car is the better fit if you want the style and tech without the extra performance hardware.
• Powertrain: The CT5 lineup includes a choice of turbocharged engines, including a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four with 237 horsepower and a 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 rated at 335 hp, while the V trim uses a higher-output V6 with 360 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque. The base engine is described as noisy and severely underpowered for the car’s mission.
• Safety package: Every CT5 has Cadillac Smart System with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, a vibrating Safety Alert Seat, a rear-seat reminder, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver monitoring technology. The CT5-V adds adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear braking, front parking sensors, a safe following distance indicator, and Intellibeam automatic high-beam headlights.
• Infotainment: The CT5 includes a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM 360L, OnStar and Cadillac Connected Access services with a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, Alexa Built-in, natural voice recognition, and a Bose 15-speaker premium audio system. An embedded navigation system is optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The CT5-V returns 21 mpg in combined driving, and the test vehicle’s evaluation loop returned 19.5 mpg.

Which 2023 Cadillac CT5 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Cadillac CT5 is offered in 2 trim levels: CT5 and CT5-V.

Here's the short version:

• CT5: This is the trim to target if you want the CT5’s style, technology, and everyday luxury without paying for the performance-focused hardware. It gives you the core appeal of the car and is the better-value choice for most shoppers.
• CT5-V: Choose this if you want the stronger V6, the sport-tuned suspension, magnetic dampers, and the more extensive safety and driver-assistance content. It suits you best if driving character matters more than keeping costs down.

Every 2023 CT5 has the standard Cadillac Smart System, while the CT5-V adds a broader set of driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Cadillac CT5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 875 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,830, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Cadillac CT5's resale value?

The current average of $34,744 sits slightly below last year's $36,395.

That price movement suggests the CT5 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if they bought at the right price. A softer market today can also mean less downside pressure later if the car continues to hold steady demand.

The CT5’s distinctive styling and strong technology help it stand out in a crowded segment, which can support buyer interest down the road. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintain the car well, you should be in a better position when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5 safe?

The 2023 Cadillac CT5 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every CT5 has Cadillac Smart System, which includes forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, a vibrating Safety Alert Seat, a rear-seat reminder, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver monitoring technology. The CT5-V adds adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear braking, front parking sensors, a safe following distance indicator, and Intellibeam automatic high-beam headlights.

The optional Super Cruise 1 Package adds Cadillac’s hands-free driving assistance system, along with lane-centering, lane-change capability, a driver monitoring camera, a 12-inch digital instrumentation panel, and a surround-view camera that can record what’s happening around the car. It’s impressive technology, but you still need to stay alert and ready to take over.

One caveat is that Super Cruise can be confused in some lane-marking situations and may require manual intervention. That means the system is advanced, but not a substitute for paying attention.

Should I buy a 2023 Cadillac CT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.53% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its stylish design, sharp handling, and impressive technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $38,052, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $34,744 average.
• It carries over unchanged.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year with the same basic formula, the 2024 is the simpler alternative.
