How much does the 2023 Acura MDX cost?

Prices have softened 7.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,832 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable range of choices.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Acura MDX earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

It fits well if you want a family-oriented midsize three-row SUV with a stylish design and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive. The trade-offs are clear: the MDX is described as having poor fuel economy and a cramped third row, so it makes more sense if you value polish and all-weather confidence more than maximum efficiency or adult-friendly rear seating.

38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 MDX is presented as a relatively fresh redesign, and Acura adds complimentary scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership friction. The model is also described as having great safety ratings and a polished, family-friendly character, both of which support confidence in day-to-day use.

The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the MDX’s efficiency and packaging compromises can become more noticeable over time if you regularly carry passengers or rack up miles.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Acura MDX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with more equipment. Focus on overall condition, interior wear, and whether the vehicle’s features work as expected, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on a polished ownership experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard MDX comes in a base level of specification with available Technology, A-Spec, and Advance packages, while the MDX Type S is offered in standard spec or with an Advance package. The base setup is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment, while the higher packages add more luxury and convenience.
• Powertrain: The standard MDX uses a 3.5-liter V6, while the Type S uses a turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 355 horsepower and 354 pound-feet of torque. The Type S also uses a 10-speed automatic transmission and Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
• Safety package: Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 12.3-inch infotainment display, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. AcuraLink connected services are included with a complimentary three-year subscription, and the system also supports Amazon Alexa Built-In.
• Fuel efficiency: The Type S averaged 16.9 mpg in evaluation driving and 17 mpg in city driving, with an official EPA combined rating of 19 mpg.

Which 2023 Acura MDX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Acura MDX is offered in 6 trim levels: base, Technology, A-Spec, Advance, Type S, and Type S Advance.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the starting point if you want the MDX’s core strengths at the lowest entry point, but it is also the trim most likely to feel light on equipment compared with the better-equipped versions.
• Technology: This is the first step up if you want more convenience and a more complete luxury feel without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• A-Spec: This is the best-value trim if you want the sportier look and a more appealing overall balance; the expert commentary specifically points buyers toward the standard MDX with the A-Spec package.
• Advance: Choose this if you want a more upscale, better-equipped MDX and value added comfort and convenience features.
• Type S: This is the performance-oriented choice, with the turbocharged V6, SH-AWD, adaptive air suspension, and larger brakes, but the driving experience is described as less cohesive than you’d hope.
• Type S Advance: Pick this only if you want the most lavish Type S setup, since it layers extra luxury on top of the performance model.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some trim packages add extra driver-assistance hardware, so it’s worth checking the exact equipment list on any used example.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Acura MDX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,832 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,496, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Acura MDX's resale value?

The current average of $38,496 sits slightly below last year's $41,792.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can make the MDX easier to buy now but may also mean sellers need to be realistic when they list one later. If you own one for a few years, the current pricing trend points to steady but not especially strong appreciation potential.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Acura MDX safe?

The 2023 Acura MDX earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA, though it also earned four-star protection ratings for the driver and front passenger in the frontal-impact test.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Acura Watch includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, adaptive cruise control with low-speed following capability, and Traffic Jam Assist. Every 2023 MDX also includes blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, and certain trim packages add front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.

There are a few caveats to keep in mind: the lane-departure alerts can feel intrusive, false lane-departure notifications can occur on scarred pavement, and the system once mistook an overhead sign for an obstacle and briefly braked. That means the MDX’s safety hardware is strong on paper, but you should still pay attention to how the driver-assistance systems behave on your test drive.

Should I buy a 2023 Acura MDX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Acura adds complimentary AcuraLink connected services and scheduled maintenance for two years or 24,000 miles.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,873, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,496 average.
• It feels fresh, modern, and more engaging than many rivals.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,365, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $38,496 average.
• It adds a new Type-S trim level and broadens the performance lineup.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and fresh-model appeal, the 2023 is the primary path to consider. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value play, while the 2024 makes sense if you want to spend more for the newer-year lineup.
