Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volvo XC40?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best examples.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 809 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.39% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,981, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volvo XC40's resale value?

The current average of $22,982 sits slightly below last year's $25,086.

That price movement suggests the XC40 has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may face a softer market than they would have a year ago. If you buy well now and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position later. The key is to avoid overpaying today, since the market has already moved down.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo XC40 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.39% compared with last year.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,918, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,982 average.
• It adds an all-electric version to the lineup.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $28,021, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,982 average.
• It adds mild-hybrid powertrains and updated styling.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best primary path if you want a premium-feeling XC40 with strong safety equipment and a softer used price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play, while the 2023 makes sense if you want the newer updates and can stretch your budget.
