Is the 2022 Volvo S60 a good car?

The 2022 Volvo S60 stands out as a compact luxury sedan that blends Scandinavian style, strong safety credentials, and a cabin that puts comfort first. Volvo’s top-down design approach gave even base models a panoramic moonroof and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, while the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and 9-inch tablet-style touchscreen helped the interior feel modern and easy to use. The seats are a major part of the appeal, and the optional Contour seats borrowed from the flagship S90 are a notable highlight.

For shoppers who want a stylish, comfortable sedan with a distinctive Volvo feel and a strong safety story, the 2022 Volvo S60 remains an appealing choice. 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Volvo S60 reliable?

The 2022 Volvo S60 stands out for its strong safety story and comfort-first cabin, with City Safety standard on every S60 and IIHS Top Safety Pick+ recognition in both 2021 and 2022. Volvo’s design approach also makes the interior feel thoughtfully executed, with a modern layout and useful standard tech.

For long-term ownership, you should be especially careful with the 2022 model year’s plug-in hybrid complexity, since that can raise repair risk if the system has been poorly maintained or already shows signs of trouble.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volvo S60?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus your inspection on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, or inconsistent maintenance records. Pay close attention to overall condition, because a clean-looking luxury sedan can still hide expensive issues if it has been neglected or repaired poorly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volvo S60?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 243 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.36% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,988, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volvo S60's resale value?

The current average of $23,538 sits slightly below last year's $25,969.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy with less risk of overpaying. If you plan to resell later, the softer pricing also means your upside may be more limited unless you buy well below the current average and keep the car in excellent condition. For a future seller, the best protection is a clean history, strong maintenance records, and a trim or configuration that appeals to a broad luxury-sedan audience.

Should I buy a 2022 Volvo S60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.36% compared with last year.

The bottom line: The 2022 Volvo S60 makes sense if you want the model-year updates, a comfortable cabin, and a market that currently gives you some negotiating room. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 model year may be worth a look because it offers similar core strengths at a lower average price, while the 2023 can be the better path if you want the newer update and are willing to pay more.
