Used 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan for Sale nearAlbuquerque, NM

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan cost?

Prices have softened 11.41% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,877 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy number of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan earns a 4.57/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its technology, safety features, comfort, and user-friendly interface. They also like its capability in different driving conditions and its solid overall performance.

The main trade-off is that the driving experience is not especially engaging, and the expert review also points to unimpressive performance and handling. For you, that means the Tiguan makes the most sense if you want a practical compact SUV with broad everyday appeal rather than a sporty one.

The market looks supportive too, with 40.4% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan reliable?

Owners rate it 4.57/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to the Tiguan as reliable, dependable, and trouble-free over the long term, with buyers saying they can count on its comfort and technology. The expert review reinforces that sense of everyday dependability by describing the SUV as a practical, refined choice for normal driving situations.

Volkswagen’s Carefree Coverage plan adds two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that build-quality concerns after accidents can matter more than the average ownership experience.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a proper inspection. Pay close attention to bodywork, interior condition, and how well the technology and safety systems operate. If you are comparing listings, focus on the trim’s equipment level and whether the features you want are actually present.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line. The base S gets standard LED headlights, keyless entry with push-button start, heated front seats, Front Assist, and Side Assist, while higher trims add more upscale styling and equipment.
• Powertrain: The Tiguan uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 184 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4Motion AWD is available.
• Safety package: IQ Drive includes Travel Assist and Emergency Assist, while the Tiguan S also gets Front Assist and Side Assist. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, and Emergency Assist can slow the SUV to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.
• Infotainment: Most versions use an 8-inch touchscreen with MIB3, standard Car-Net connected services, standard App-Connect smartphone mirroring, and SiriusXM 360L. The base Tiguan S uses MIB2 with a 6.5-inch touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says the R-Line with 4Motion will get no better than 24 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SE, SE R-Line Black, and SEL R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value-focused starting point, and it already includes standard LED headlights, heated front seats, keyless entry with push-button start, Front Assist, and Side Assist. It makes sense if you want the Tiguan’s core safety and utility without paying for extra appearance or tech upgrades.
• SE: This is the trim to target if you want the best balance of equipment and price, because it adds remote engine start and keeps the Tiguan’s practical strengths intact. For many shoppers, this is the sweet spot.
• SE R-Line Black: Choose this if you want the sportier blacked-out appearance and a more distinctive look without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• SEL R-Line: This is the most upscale version, with perforated and piped leather upholstery, a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display, a redesigned navigation system, a nine-speaker Fender audio system, ambient lighting, and standard Park Assist. It is the right pick if you want the most features and the richest cabin.

Safety equipment is strongest on the lower trims where the standard driver-assistance features are already included, while the upper trims add convenience and parking tech.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan?

It looks like a buyer’s market, with plenty of inventory and meaningful price softness.

• Deal availability: 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,877 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.41% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,197, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan's resale value?

The current average of $20,198 sits slightly below last year's $22,799.

That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and trim than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the Tiguan still has strong shopper interest and a solid value reputation, well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.57/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan safe?

The 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan earned a “Top Safety Pick” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Front Assist, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and Side Assist with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, are standard on the Tiguan S. Volkswagen also adds Travel Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, and Emergency Assist, which can slow the SUV to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive.

One caveat is that Travel Assist relies on touch-sensing steering-wheel controls that can be finicky to engage, so you should confirm it is active before depending on it.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Tiguan or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 40.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.41% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.57/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds new safety technology while keeping the Tiguan’s roomy, value-oriented formula.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,179, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,198 average.
• It emphasizes space, cargo room, and straightforward family-friendly usability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $22,267, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $20,198 average.
• It feels larger inside and offers a third-row seat.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2022 if you want the best mix of price, safety tech, and broad everyday usefulness. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value play; if you want more interior flexibility, the 2023 is the better step up.
