Used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 13.88% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,253 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

The Atlas is built around what you care about most if you want a family-focused three-row SUV: passenger comfort, cargo space, and everyday utility. It is especially appealing if you want a roomy third row and a straightforward layout that prioritizes space over flash.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and fuel economy is poor. The interior materials also feel cheap, which keeps it from feeling as polished as its size and price might suggest.

Even so, the Atlas still makes sense if your main goal is practical space for people and gear. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas is positioned as a practical, comfort-first SUV, and its expert evaluation reinforces that it is built to serve families well. Volkswagen also includes complimentary scheduled service for two years or 20,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs.

Its dependability story is mixed in the sense that the vehicle emphasizes utility and comfort more than refinement, but the ownership package is a helpful plus for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is that you may still be living with the same weak points in refinement, efficiency, and interior quality that show up in the expert review.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough inspection, especially if you are looking at a higher-mileage example or a vehicle with a lot of family use. Focus on cabin condition, interior wear, and whether the features you want are actually present on the trim you are considering.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line. The base SE is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more equipment and a more upscale presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder makes 235 horsepower and is paired with an eight-speed automatic. A 3.6-liter V6 is standard on higher trims and optional on some others, and it brings more power but weaker fuel economy.
• Safety package: SE models include Front Assist, Side Assist, and Rear Traffic Alert. SE with Technology adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go plus front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. SEL trims add the full IQ Drive suite, including Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist.
• Infotainment: SE models use a 6.5-inch touchscreen and last-generation infotainment, while other trims get an 8-inch system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and connected services. SEL models add a 10.25-inch digital cluster display.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged four-cylinder is rated at 22 mpg to 23 mpg in combined driving, while the V6 is rated at 19 mpg to 20 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Atlas trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Atlas is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SE with Technology, SEL, SEL R-Line, SEL R-Line Black, and SEL Premium R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Atlas formula with the standard turbocharged engine, basic infotainment, and the essential safety features. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Atlas, but it is also the most bare-bones version.
• SE with Technology: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and the upgraded infotainment setup. If you want a better daily experience without jumping too far up the price ladder, this is the trim to target.
• SEL: This trim brings the full IQ Drive safety suite, a larger digital display, and a more premium feature set. It is the right choice if safety tech and a more upscale feel matter more to you than keeping the budget tight.
• SEL R-Line: This trim adds the V6 as standard and gives you a more powerful setup, but the expert review still points to leisurely acceleration and only modest refinement. It suits you best if you want the V6 and the sportier appearance.
• SEL R-Line Black: This is the new-for-2022 appearance-focused version, so it is mainly for shoppers who want a darker look and the same upscale equipment path.
• SEL Premium R-Line: This is the most luxurious version, with the 12-speaker Fender audio system, the most upscale presentation, and the most available camera and parking tech. It is the one to choose if you want the most fully equipped Atlas.

The safety package is strongest on SEL trims, where the Atlas gets the full IQ Drive collection.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,253 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.88% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $24,032, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $24,032 sits slightly below last year's $27,906.

That price movement suggests the Atlas has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price today. If you shop near the lower end of the current range, you may have less downside left than someone who paid closer to original market levels.

The Atlas’s practical appeal should continue to support demand among shoppers who want space and utility first. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Atlas safe?

The 2022 Atlas does not earn a Top Safety Pick rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it gets four-star ratings for the driver and front passenger in frontal-impact tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Volkswagen equips the Atlas with a strong set of driver-assistance features. SE models include Front Assist with forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, and automatic emergency braking, plus Side Assist blind-spot monitoring and Rear Traffic Alert. SE with Technology adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go and front and rear parking sensors with low-speed automatic braking. SEL trims add Lane Assist, Travel Assist, Emergency Assist, brighter LED headlights with automatic high beams, and adaptive front lighting.

There are some caveats to keep in mind. The lane-keeping system can be intrusive, and the parking sensors may react too aggressively in some situations. If you are shopping used, it is worth testing the driver-assistance systems yourself to make sure they suit your preferences.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.88% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model carries over the 2021 refresh and keeps the Atlas’s roomy, family-focused formula intact.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,666, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $24,032 average.
• It is a roomy three-row crossover with practical appeal and strong value.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year pricing context and the same core Atlas strengths, the 2022 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is saving money and you are comfortable with an older model year, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path.
