The 2022 Sienna stands out as a hybrid-only minivan with a standard hybrid powertrain, plenty of cargo space, and strong safety ratings. That combination makes it especially appealing if you want a practical family hauler that emphasizes efficiency and everyday usefulness.

Toyota backs the hybrid-related components with an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty, which adds confidence for used buyers. For long-term ownership, the main risk is less about the concept and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean history and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Sienna?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still prioritize a history report, because even a strong accident-free share does not guarantee the individual listing you’re considering is clean. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on hybrid-system operation, cabin condition, and signs of heavy family use such as worn seats, damaged trim, or overworked sliding-door hardware.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Base models use 17-inch wheels, while upper trims move up to 18-inch and even 20-inch wheels. The cabin also scales up with available second-row captain’s chairs with ottomans, a bench seat option, and more upscale convenience features on higher trims.
• Powertrain: The Sienna uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and two electric motors for 243 horsepower. FWD is standard, AWD is available, and the hybrid setup is tuned for smooth, efficient driving.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 includes adaptive cruise control, Lane Tracing Assist, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and traffic sign recognition. Toyota’s Star Safety System is also standard.
• Infotainment: A 9-inch touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, SiriusXM, one USB media port, and six USB charging ports. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 36 mpg city/36 mpg highway/36 mpg combined, while AWD models are rated at 35 mpg city/36 mpg highway/35 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, Platinum, and Woodland Edition.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Sienna formula at the lowest price. It’s the best-value choice if you want the hybrid powertrain, standard safety tech, and family-friendly space without paying for extras you may not need.
• XLE: This is the trim to target if you want a more balanced mix of comfort and convenience. It adds more available seating flexibility and upscale features, making it a smart middle-ground pick for many shoppers.
• XSE: This trim adds a sportier look and sits above the XLE in price. Choose it if you want a more distinctive appearance and are willing to pay more for style-oriented upgrades.
• Limited: This is the better choice if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and more available tech. It suits shoppers who plan to keep the van for a long time and want a more upscale daily experience.
• Woodland Edition: This trim is aimed at buyers who want a more adventurous look and AWD only. It’s the right pick if that rugged styling matters to you more than maximum value.
• Platinum: This is the top-end choice for shoppers who want the most features and the most upscale presentation. It makes sense if you want the most fully equipped Sienna and are comfortable paying for it.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 is standard across the lineup, so you’re getting the core driver-assistance package even on the base trim.

What is the 2022 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $36,583 sits slightly below last year's $38,851.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more favorable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to stay realistic on asking price. If you buy well now, you may have less downside risk than someone who paid closer to the prior-year average.

The Sienna’s strong reputation for efficiency, space, and safety should help keep demand steady among family buyers. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.84% compared with last year.

• It introduced the redesigned Sienna with standard hybrid power.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $41,497, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $36,583 average.
• It keeps the hybrid formula and emphasizes family-friendly practicality.
