Is the 2017 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Yes — 4.88/5 is a strong user rating, and it lines up with the Sienna’s family-focused strengths. Drivers consistently praise its spacious interior, comfort, and reliability, and many also value the versatile seating and convenient features that make it especially useful for families. With three rows of seating and a cabin that can open up for cargo, it fits buyers who need one vehicle to handle both people-moving and hauling duties. With 32.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers describing it as a vehicle they can count on for family use over the long term. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and condition, because age and prior use can affect long-term ownership risk.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Sienna?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can catch hidden body, suspension, or mechanical issues. Focus especially on overall condition, signs of prior repairs, and whether the vehicle has been maintained consistently. Given the model-year concerns noted for the transmission and power sliding doors, those systems deserve extra attention during your evaluation.

What is the 2017 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $19,378 sits slightly below last year's $19,873.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend more heavily on condition, mileage, and maintenance history than on broad market momentum. Well-kept examples should still hold appeal because shoppers continue to value the Sienna’s practicality and family-friendly layout.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $17,204, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $19,378 average.
• It offers strong tech and broad family utility.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $21,682, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $19,378 average.
• It stands out for buyers who want all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best fit if you want a well-liked, family-friendly Sienna at a softer price than last year. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2016 is the better value play; if all-wheel drive matters most, the 2018 is worth the extra spend.
