CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Toyota Camry
overall

Summary
With 396 currently listed for sale near Atlanta, GA and an average price of $21,960.00, 30.3% of 2022 Toyota Camrys for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Toyota Camry 4.88 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.17 / 10.
99.0% of 2022 Camry models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota Camry stands out as a straightforward choice for buyers who want a roomy, reliable, efficient, safe, and affordable car. It also has broad appeal because Toyota sold more than 310,000 Camrys in 2021, making it the third best-selling vehicle of that year that was not a pickup truck. For shoppers who like its styling, the Camry’s design is part of the package: if you like the way the 2022 Toyota Camry looks, you’ll likely like most other things about it.
What makes the 2022 Toyota Camry especially appealing is the mix of strengths it brings to the table. It offers an available V6 engine, standard advanced safety features, and excellent value for money. Owners also praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, stylish design, comfortable interior, and value. At the same time, it is not without drawbacks: the technology is described as outdated, the TRD trim does not feature a folding rear seat, and some drivers feel the four-cylinder engine lacks power.

I absolutely love the features of my car. The push start, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay are all fantastic. For the value, the car is a great choice. Being a Toyota, its built to last and is also very fuel-efficient. Both the exterior and interior are incredibly clean, which adds to its appeal. That said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I’d love if the car had memory seats, and the display screen could be a bit more modern, especially compared to the ones in the Toyota Highlanders. Another small inconvenience is that, unlike the Highlanders where Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly through Bluetooth, my car requires the phone to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. While this isnt a huge issue, it would be more convenient if it were wireless like in the Highlanders. Overall, it’s a really cute car and an amazing choice for a first car. Im really happy with it!

Smooth ride on the highway with great mpg. The shifting is a little hotter than I'm used to but you get used to it pretty quickly. The only thing it's missing is a physical pause/play button. Has all the controls except that one.

Great car. Like the styling on the outside which was a big reason. Most important though is reliability and safety.

Is the 2022 Toyota Camry a good car?
Yes — the 2022 Toyota Camry earns a 4.88/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating.
The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.
Owners consistently praise its reliability, fuel efficiency, stylish design, comfortable interior, and value for money. The Camry also fits shoppers who want a roomy, reliable, efficient, safe, and affordable sedan, and its broad appeal is reinforced by strong sales history.
The main trade-offs are that the four-cylinder engine can feel underpowered and the technology is described as outdated. That makes it a better fit if you prioritize everyday comfort, efficiency, and value over the latest tech features.
With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry reliable?
Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners also describe it as reliable, and they repeatedly highlight its dependable nature, fuel efficiency, and value. The expert evaluation reinforces that this is a comfortable, affordable, reliable, safe, and efficient family car, which supports the case for long-term ownership.
Toyota also includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for the first two years of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership costs.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about core durability and more about finding a well-kept example with the features and condition you want.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota Camry?
At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of bodywork, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. It also makes sense to focus on the condition of the interior and the technology, since the cabin and infotainment setup are part of the ownership experience here. If you are considering a TRD, pay extra attention to whether the car’s sport-focused hardware and equipment still feel tight and well maintained.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The TRD stands out with an aerodynamic body kit, matte-black 19-inch wheels, red brake calipers, red accent stripes and badges, and a more aggressive appearance, while the base LE starts lower in the lineup and is the value-oriented entry point.
- Powertrain: You can choose a four-cylinder engine, a V6 engine, or a gas-electric hybrid powertrain that can deliver more than 50 mpg in combined driving.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance; blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD but optional on LE and SE.
- Infotainment: The standard system uses a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM satellite radio; a 9-inch touchscreen is available on the TRD.
- Fuel efficiency: The TRD is rated at 25 mpg in combined driving.
Which 2022 Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2022 Toyota Camry is offered in 13 trim levels: LE, SE, XLE, XSE, TRD, and SE Hybrid.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the Camry’s core strengths without paying for extra performance or appearance upgrades.
- SE: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it keeps the Camry affordable while adding a more athletic feel than the LE.
- XLE: Choose this if you want a more upscale take on the Camry and are willing to pay more for comfort-oriented appeal.
- XSE: This is the sportier, slightly upscale choice at the top of the mainstream lineup, and it suits you if style matters as much as everyday usability.
- TRD: This is the enthusiast pick, with the V6, track-tuned suspension, bigger brakes, summer performance tires, and the most aggressive styling; it is the one to buy if you want the strongest performance character.
- SE Hybrid: Choose this if you want the hybrid powertrain and the efficiency benefits that come with it, especially if fuel savings matter most.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is standard on the TRD but optional on LE and SE.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota Camry?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 4,330 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.75% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 71.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,385.25, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Toyota Camry's resale value?
The current average of $23,438 sits slightly below last year's $24,101.
That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than on broad market momentum alone. Well-kept examples with the right equipment should remain easier to move than neglected ones.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Toyota Camry safe?
It gets a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns five-star ratings in every single evaluation the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration performs.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard on every 2022 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control and lane-centering assistance, which together create a hands-on semi-autonomous highway-driving function. Safety Connect is also standard and includes automatic collision notification, an emergency assistance button, roadside assistance access, and a stolen vehicle locator.
One caveat is that the lane-departure warning system can misread pavement scars, and the lane-centering assistance can feel overly insistent on some roads. The adaptive cruise control can also reduce speed in curves more than you may want.
Should I buy a 2022 Toyota Camry or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 71.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.75% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines an available V6, standard advanced safety features, and strong value in a roomy, efficient sedan.
Consider the 2021 if:
- At $21,731, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,438 average.
- It offers broad choice across trims, powertrains, and drivetrains.
The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market balance, the 2022 is the better target because it pairs solid pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and a well-rounded feature set. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the better value path, especially if you find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
