CarGurus Analysis: 2022 Tesla Model S

Summary
With 479 currently listed for sale and an average price of $47,064, 29.6% of 2022 Tesla Model Ss for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Tesla Model S 4.29 / 5 stars.
84.8% of 2022 Model S models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Tesla Model S stands out as a software-driven luxury electric sedan that helped define the modern EV era. It was revolutionary when it entered the market, offering more than 200 miles of EV range, a minimalist interior, and an exterior shape guided more by aerodynamics than fashion. By this point in its life cycle, it also benefited from Tesla’s constant updates and over-the-air software improvements, which helped keep the car feeling current despite its long production run.
For 2022, the Model S was part of the Palladium refresh introduced in 2021, so it featured the all-new interior with a yoke steering wheel and the overhauled powertrain that brought increased efficiency, range, and power. Standard equipment included vegan leatherette seats, heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, adaptive air suspension, a glass roof, wireless phone charging, a premium 22-speaker, 560-watt audio system, adaptive cruise control, and a blind spot monitor. It also lacked Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, which remains a notable omission for shoppers who want familiar smartphone integration.
That mix of strong performance, advanced technology, and long-range capability is a big part of the 2022 Tesla Model S appeal. It also offers the convenience of Tesla’s Supercharger network and the kind of futuristic design many buyers still find distinctive. At the same time, some shoppers may be put off by the yoke steering wheel, the lack of physical controls, and concerns about rear seat space and practicality.

the model S Tesla is not only a beautiful car, but also a superb auto. I think one of the biggest EV advantages of the Tesla models, is numerous locations of Super Charging Stations, which enable 300 to 600 miles of charge per hour of charge time at only .35 cents per KW hr... and the FSD seems unbelievable amazing & accurate.

The car is not worth the cost. There is no foot room for the back seat rider. Back seat room is too cramped. Interior material is subpar for a luxury car. Yoke stirring wheel is not practical.

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 29.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the refreshed Model S experience with stable pricing and strong owner feedback, the 2022 is the year to target. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby year with a lower asking price may be worth considering, but you should still focus on condition, history, and deal quality first.
