What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru Legacy?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re serious about, even if the market looks healthy. Focus on overall condition, because a clean-looking sedan with incomplete records can still be a risky buy.

What is the 2022 Subaru Legacy's resale value?

The current average of $20,421 sits slightly below last year's $22,402.

That softer pricing suggests the Legacy has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means future sellers may face some pressure if the market stays steady. If you buy at a strong price and keep the car in good condition, you can help protect your resale position. Demand should remain supported by the model’s practical appeal and strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,110, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,421 average.
• It offers standard AWD with budget-friendly efficiency.

The 2022 is the better all-around pick if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and inventory quality. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the more price-sensitive path and still keeps the Legacy’s core AWD appeal.
