Used 2022 RAM 3500 for Sale near Springfield, IL
The world of heavy-duty trucks is one of the most cutthroat, competitive parts of the automotive market. Manufacturers are in a heated arms race, jamming more power, torque, and technology into their workhorse pickups every year. Ram is no different, offering up to 1,075 pound-feet of torque with the 6.7-liter high-output diesel in the 3500.
Ram gave the 3500 a slew of updates for 2022 that include its new Uconnect 5 infotainment system. There’s also a new Silver Edition, styling updates, new equipment packages, and updated towing and technology features. Ram offers several trims, including Tradesman, Big Horn, Lone Star, Laramie, Power Wagon, Longhorn, and Limited. Pricing starts at around $46,000 for the barebones Tradesman and ranges to north of $74,000 for the Limited.
The base engine is a 6.4-liter Hemi V8 that makes 410 horsepower and 429 pound-feet of torque. Many buyers opt for one of the two available diesel engines, however. The standard output 6.7-liter Cummins turbodiesel delivers 370 horsepower and a massive 850 pound-feet of torque, but the available high-output version of that engine makes 420 horsepower and 1,075 pound-feet of torque. The diesels come paired with a six-speed automatic, and the gas V8 gets an eight-speed. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard, and four-wheel drive (4WD) is available.
Tradesman buyers get a relatively stripped-down work truck with vinyl upholstery and little in the way of technology. On the other end of the spectrum, top trims offer plush leather upholstery with heating and ventilation for the front seats. They also get far better technology offerings, with up to a 12-inch touchscreen, compared to the Tradesman’s 5-inch display. An 8.4-inch display is also available.
Ram gets Stellantis’s excellent Uconnect 5 infotainment system, which brings over-the-air (OTA) updates, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, connected apps, navigation, HD radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, Amazon Alexa, and more. The 12-inch unit can run two apps side-by-side, allowing users to, for example, adjust climate controls while using Apple CarPlay.
Heavy-duty trucks aren’t particularly known for their generous safety equipment, but Ram offers a few useful features for the 3500. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alerts, forward-collision warnings, and automatic emergency braking are available. HD trucks are also not subjected to the same crash testing and evaluations as normal passenger vehicles, so there are no scores from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) or the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The 2022 Ram 3500 starts at $46,310 before options, taxes, and destination. The top Limited trim starts at $74,315. Ram offers a boatload of options for the truck, which can drive the price tag through the roof. The high-output diesel engine alone is a $12,395 option. From there, buyers can add a $1,705 auto-leveling rear air suspension system, a $1,495 fifth-wheel hitch, a $3,845 max towing package, and more.

(20 reviews)Love this RAM 3500! I picked this one out specifically for the RAM box. I use them everyday. Keeps the cab uncluttered. The Mega cab with the seats folded down allows me to put down a twin bed 3 inch memory foam pad and sheet for my 95lbs. GSD so he rides in complete comfort on our long road trips plus theres room for two coolers and a munchies bag! The auto level for the bed is a great addition when towing or hauling heavy stuff. And you will not find a nicer interior in any truck. So much room, so many options, and such a nice ride for a 1 ton truck. A great buy!
Truck pulls amazing and has all the features you want when towing
Excellent truck. 2022 Ram 3500 Big Horn CC LB DRW. Towing a 15k fifth-wheel. Has HO engine/Aisin tranny, 50-gal tank, and blind-spot/cross-path monitors. Rides smooth, good visibility. Tight steering. Nice interior. Jump to LB DRW not that much different, just need to watch your hips. Plenty of grunt off the line compared to my 2016 Ram 3500 SRW. Looked hard at the F450 and GMC 3500, but engine, amenities, and price swung it to the Ram.
Love the Ram. The overall power, comfort and reliability just cant be beat. Ram price is RIGHT
It has Great pulling power and rides like a car
