How much does the 2022 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 8.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,674 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 RAM 1500 earns a 4.78/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its comfort, luxurious ride, great power, and value for money. They also highlight the beautiful interior and thoughtful features, and many say it works well both on the road and off.

The main trade-offs are the expensive diesel engine option and the fact that advanced safety features are not standard. The overview also points to a truck that is especially appealing if you want a full-size pickup that feels polished, comfortable, and still useful every day.

Good and great deals account for 35.9% of listings, so you have a meaningful share of the market to choose from.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with strong comfort, value, and all-around satisfaction showing up again and again. The expert drive notes also reinforce that impression by describing the Ram as a well-rounded all-arounder with strong driving character and a polished cabin.

The cost-effectiveness commentary adds that the truck is competitively priced and equipped, though the EcoDiesel does not deliver standout value. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying extra for features or engines that may not return enough savings over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has higher mileage or towing use. Focus on overall condition, because the Ram’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The truck ranges from the basic Tradesman to the high-performance TRX, and lower trims miss some of the richer equipment and safety content that appears higher up the lineup.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a standard 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque, an available 5.7-liter V8 with or without eTorque, or the EcoDiesel turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6; the diesel brings strong torque and up to 12,560 pounds of towing capacity depending on configuration.
• Safety package: Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert, while higher packages add automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking assistance.
• Infotainment: Big Horn and above get Uconnect 5, with an 8.4-inch touchscreen in lower trims and a 12-inch display available in higher trims; wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Alexa Built-in and connected services.
• Fuel efficiency: The EcoDiesel is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 24.8 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 RAM 1500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited, TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the entry point, so it makes the most sense if you want the Ram name and core truck capability at the lowest rung, but you should expect fewer comfort and safety extras than the higher trims.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the newer Uconnect 5 system and starts adding more everyday convenience without jumping all the way to luxury pricing.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged, personality-driven setup and are willing to pay for a trim that leans into a more distinctive character.
• Laramie: This is the step-up choice if you want a more premium-feeling cabin and stronger comfort features without going all the way to the top-end luxury trims.
• Limited Longhorn: This trim is for buyers who want a more upscale, richly finished truck with a stronger emphasis on premium materials and appearance.
• Limited: This is the luxury pick if you want the most polished version of the Ram 1500’s comfort, tech, and interior presentation.
• TRX: This is the high-performance choice, and it stands apart as the most extreme model in the lineup.

Higher trims can be paired with the Advanced Safety Group or Rebel Safety Group, which add more driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,674 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,850, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $32,850 sits slightly below last year's $35,759.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than assuming the truck will hold its price unchanged.

Because the average price is lower than it was a year ago, buyers may be more selective, especially if comparable listings are plentiful. Well-kept trucks with desirable equipment should still draw attention, but you may need to price competitively if you sell later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2022 RAM 1500 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact ratings for the driver and front passenger.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher packages add automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking assistance.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the rear automatic braking system can be overly sensitive in some situations. Lane-keep assist can also feel too insistent, so you may want to test those systems carefully before buying.

Should I buy a 2022 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends comfort, utility, technology, and driving character into a well-rounded full-size pickup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,185, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $32,850 average.
• It leans into capability and personality with strong ride quality and a more aggressive performance angle.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $36,113, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $32,850 average.
• It keeps the comfort-focused formula while adding a more upscale feel and premium interior materials.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, comfort, and broad appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play, while the 2023 makes sense if you are willing to pay more for a newer-feeling cabin and a slightly more premium presentation.
