Is the 2022 Porsche 911 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Porsche 911 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Drivers consistently praise its exceptional performance, sharp handling, and stylish design, along with the high-quality interior materials and strong power delivery. In practical terms, that lines up with the 911’s appeal as a sports car that still works well for everyday use.

The main trade-offs are limited cargo space and poor value for money, and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the 911’s blend of comfort, premium cabin quality, and approachable performance makes it a strong fit if you want a luxury sports car that feels special without being difficult to live with.

On the expert side, the 911 is described as a sports car that has improved steadily over time while remaining easy to live with. That said, used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and overall condition, since a high-performance car can become expensive if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Porsche 911?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially because this is a performance car with limited cargo space and a premium ownership profile. Focus on signs of hard use, uneven wear, and whether the car’s equipment matches the trim and options you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 911 lineup spans a wide range of equipment and character, from the base Carrera to higher-output variants. The base car is the most straightforward entry point, while upper trims add more performance and equipment, so check carefully for feature gaps if you are comparing lower trims.
• Powertrain: The 911 uses a rear-mounted horizontally opposed six-cylinder engine, with rear-wheel drive on standard models and all-wheel drive on versions with a 4 in the name. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is offered on most models, while a seven-speed manual is available on S and GTS models.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring, while night vision and an integrated dashcam are also available.
• Infotainment: The touchscreen sits lower than in many vehicles, wireless Apple CarPlay is included, and Android Auto still requires a USB cable. The base audio system may disappoint, so the optional Bose system is worth considering if sound quality matters to you.
• Fuel efficiency: The PDK transmission improves acceleration and fuel efficiency, while the manual is the better choice if you want more engagement.

Which 2022 Porsche 911 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Porsche 911 is offered in 10 trim levels: Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, and Sport Classic.

Here's the short version:

• Carrera: This is the entry point and the best place to start if you want the core 911 experience without chasing extra power or price. It gives you the iconic shape, strong performance, and the most accessible pricing in the lineup.
• Carrera 4: Choose this if you want the standard 911 formula with all-wheel drive. It adds traction-focused confidence while staying close to the base car’s overall character.
• Carrera S: This is the best-value upgrade for many shoppers because it adds more power without jumping all the way into the more expensive upper trims. It suits you if you want a stronger performance margin while keeping the 911’s everyday usability.
• Carrera 4S: Pick this if you want the Carrera S formula with all-wheel drive. It makes sense if you want extra traction along with the stronger engine output.
• Carrera GTS: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want a more serious performance edge and a more aggressive feel without moving into the Turbo range. It is a strong choice if you want a more special driving experience.
• Carrera 4 GTS: Choose this if you want the GTS character plus all-wheel drive. It is the right fit if you want a more capable all-weather setup with the stronger GTS tuning.
• Turbo: This is for buyers who want a major jump in performance and are willing to pay for it. It is best if you care more about outright speed than value.
• Turbo S: This is the top choice if you want the most extreme road-going performance in this lineup. It is the most expensive mainstream performance step here, so it suits you only if you want the best and are comfortable paying for it.
• GT3: This is the enthusiast pick if you want the most track-focused naturally aspirated model in the group. It is the right choice if you prioritize driving intensity over comfort and cost.
• Sport Classic: This is the halo-style choice for collectors and enthusiasts who want exclusivity and nostalgia more than rational value. It is the least practical buy here, but also the most emotionally driven one.

The safety package is limited compared with conventional sedans and SUVs, and feature availability varies by trim level.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Porsche 911?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 936 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.53% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 93.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $211,146, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Porsche 911's resale value?

The current average of $216,485 sits slightly above last year's $211,146.

That upward movement suggests the market still values this model year well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A car that holds demand while staying in a relatively tight price band can be easier to move when you decide to trade it in or list it privately.

The 911’s strong reputation, premium cabin, and broad enthusiast appeal should help support future buyer interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Porsche 911 safe?

The Porsche 911 has not been evaluated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring, while night vision and an integrated dashcam are also available.

The main caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, and the 911 offers fewer safety features than many sedans and SUVs. That is typical for a sports car, but it still matters if safety tech is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2022 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.53% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 keeps the 911’s approachable performance and everyday drivability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $222,145, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $216,485 average.
• It adds several new variants, including the Carrera T, GT3 RS, Sport Classic, and Dakar.

The bottom line: If you want the better value path, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it delivers the core 911 experience with strong owner satisfaction and a healthier market spread. If you want more variant choice and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the better move.
