Is the 2022 Porsche 911 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Porsche 911 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Drivers consistently praise its exceptional performance, sharp handling, and stylish design, while also calling out the high-quality interior materials and the way it still works well for everyday use. The overview also frames it as a sports car with approachable performance and daily drivability, which helps explain its broad appeal.

The main trade-offs are limited cargo space and the fact that it is poor value for money. Even so, the market still shows 33.0% good or great deals, which suggests you can still find some relative value if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Porsche 911 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a car that feels dependable, trouble-free, and easy to live with over time, especially for buyers who want a sports car that still fits into daily use. The expert evaluation also emphasizes that the 911’s performance is well-mannered and easy to drive conservatively, which supports the idea that it is not just fast but also manageable.

The ownership risk for used buyers is less about basic dependability and more about the cost of keeping a high-end sports car in top condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Porsche 911?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report on any car you are seriously considering, especially because this is a premium sports car where prior use can matter a lot. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing so you can check for wear, modifications, and any signs that the car was driven harder than average. Focus on overall condition, because the 911’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Carrera gets standard forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist, while the optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring. That makes the lower trim the one where you are most likely to feel feature gaps.
• Powertrain: The 911 uses a rear-mounted horizontally opposed six-cylinder boxer engine, and the lineup includes rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive versions. The PDK transmission improves acceleration and fuel efficiency, while the manual is the better choice if you want more engagement.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring, with additional options including night vision and an integrated dashcam feature.
• Infotainment: The touchscreen sits lower than in many cars, wireless Apple CarPlay is included, and Android Auto still requires a USB cable. The base audio system may disappoint, so the optional Bose system is the upgrade to consider.
• Fuel efficiency: The PDK transmission improves fuel efficiency, though no MPG figure is stated.

Which 2022 Porsche 911 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Porsche 911 is offered in 10 trim levels: Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Carrera 4 GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, and Sport Classic.

Here's the short version:

• Carrera: This is the entry point and the best-value choice if you want the classic 911 experience without paying for extra power you may not need. It gives you the core performance, the standard safety features, and the everyday drivability that define the model.
• Carrera 4: Choose this if you want all-wheel drive and are willing to pay more for it. It adds traction-focused confidence, but the content suggests the rear-wheel-drive Carrera is still the smarter value for most buyers.
• Carrera S: This is the trim to target if you want a stronger performance step without jumping into the more expensive upper tiers. It adds more power and remains one of the lineup’s most satisfying all-around choices.
• Carrera 4S: Pick this if you want the Carrera S formula with all-wheel drive. It suits buyers who want extra traction and stronger performance, but it is not the best-value pick.
• Carrera GTS: This is the sweet spot for shoppers who want a more serious performance edge while keeping the car easy to live with. It adds meaningful power and sits in the middle of the lineup, making it a compelling enthusiast choice.
• Carrera 4 GTS: Choose this if you want the GTS character plus all-wheel drive. It is for buyers who want a more capable all-weather setup and are comfortable paying for it.
• Turbo: This is where the lineup becomes much more expensive and much more extreme. It is best for buyers who want serious straight-line performance and are less concerned about value.
• Turbo S: This is the top choice for buyers who want maximum performance and are willing to pay for it. It is the most over-the-top road-going option in the lineup.
• GT3: This is the track-focused choice for drivers who want the most specialized performance character. It is best for enthusiasts who plan to exploit its capabilities.
• Sport Classic: This is the most expensive and most nostalgic option, aimed at buyers who care as much about exclusivity and heritage as performance.

The safety package is limited on the base car, so if driver-assistance features matter to you, prioritize a trim or package that adds them.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Porsche 911?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you should shop with a clear target and move quickly when the right car appears.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 909 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.30% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 94.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $211,132, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Porsche 911's resale value?

The current average of $218,286 sits slightly above last year's $211,317.

That upward move suggests the market continues to support this model year, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. A rising average price can help preserve your exit value, especially when demand stays steady and inventory remains relatively healthy. The fact that this model also has strong owner satisfaction should help keep buyer interest broad.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Porsche 911 safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring, and other options include night vision and an integrated dashcam feature.

The main safety caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard across the lineup, so you should pay close attention to package content on any used example you consider.

Should I buy a 2022 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 94.1% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 3.30% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends approachable performance with everyday drivability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $221,273, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $218,286 average.
• It adds new variants, including the Carrera T, GT3 RS, Sport Classic, and Dakar.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger value play, the 2022 is the better starting point because it still delivers the core 911 formula with solid market support. If you are willing to pay more for a broader lineup and newer special variants, the 2023 is the more expansive choice.
