How much does the 2022 Nissan Sentra cost?

Prices have softened 5.98% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,572 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is positioned as a well-rounded compact sedan that works well as an affordable entry point for the brand. Its appeal comes from a stylish design, easy-to-use technology, and a comfortable cabin, while the main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and less cargo space than some rivals.

Good and great deals account for 34.6% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Sentra is described as a competent, attractive, and comfortable compact car, and its safety features and ride comfort are part of that appeal. Its 2.0-liter four-cylinder setup is straightforward, and the transmission is described as managing power well, which supports an easygoing ownership experience. The model also comes with a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that it is not a standout in performance, so condition and maintenance history matter more than chasing extra capability.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior accident. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of uneven wear, since those can reveal whether a repaired car was restored well. It also makes sense to confirm that the driver-assistance features and infotainment system work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base S trim includes 16-inch steel wheels with plastic covers, halogen headlights, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, while the SV adds alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, premium cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch touchscreen. The SR adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, unique exterior styling, dual-zone automatic climate control, sport cloth seats, and a leather-wrapped shift knob.
• Powertrain: Every 2022 Sentra uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 149 horsepower and 146 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and front-wheel drive. The setup is described as satisfactory, with solid low-end acceleration, good highway manners, and consistent everyday performance.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. Adaptive cruise control and a surround-view parking monitor are available on the test model, and the adaptive cruise control can brake abruptly when closing in on traffic.
• Infotainment: The base model gets a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a USB port. SV and SR trims upgrade to an 8-inch touchscreen. The system is easy to use, but it does not offer wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sentra returns 29 mpg city, 39 mpg highway, and 33 mpg combined. The SR returns 28 mpg city, 37 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined.

Which 2022 Nissan Sentra trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Sentra is offered in 3 trim levels: S, SV, and SR.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sentra lineup. You still get a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the core comfort and safety basics, so it covers the essentials well.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds alloy wheels, heated side mirrors, proximity keyless entry, premium cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and the larger 8-inch touchscreen. It gives you the most noticeable upgrades without jumping to the top trim.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportier look and extra equipment. It adds 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, remote start, unique exterior styling, dual-zone automatic climate control, and sport cloth seats with orange accent stitching.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Sentra?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer's market, so you can shop carefully and still find decent opportunities.

• Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,572 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.98% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 74.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,420, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Sentra's resale value?

The current average of $16,420 sits slightly below last year's $17,465.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help keep demand steady if you decide to sell later. A lower entry price can also make it easier for your car to stay competitive against newer listings in the same segment. For a future seller, the key will be maintaining condition and keeping the car attractive relative to similarly priced compact sedans.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Sentra safe?

The Sentra earns a Top Safety Pick award from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sentra comes with a solid standard safety suite that includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward collision avoidance, pedestrian detection, driver drowsiness monitoring, lane-departure warning, and blind spot monitoring. The test model also had a surround-view parking monitor and adaptive cruise control. One caveat is that the adaptive cruise control can brake abruptly when it closes in on traffic.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Sentra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.98% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 Sentra is a well-rounded compact sedan with stylish design, easy-to-use technology, and a comfortable cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $14,946, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $16,420 average.
• It offers a smart, polished compact-sedan package with strong value and competitive safety.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the better pick if you want the current-year balance of comfort, style, and safety at a softened price. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers much of the same appeal.
