The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Van is designed to be a blank canvas. Whatever your job requires, the Sprinter can satisfy with its seemingly endless configurations. The Sprinter competes with vehicles such as the Ford Transit and Ram ProMaster, and it’s largely unchanged for the 2022 model year.

Mercedes offers the Sprinter Cargo Van in a number of different configurations, including a 144-inch wheelbase, 170-inch wheelbase, and extended 170-inch lengths. The 144-inch version is available in standard-roof and high-roof setups, while the longer variants come exclusively with the high roof. The short-roof 144-inch configuration provides up to 319 cubic feet of cargo space. The largest setup provides an incredible 532 cubic feet of cargo space.

Buyers can select the Sprinter in various payload tiers, including 1500, 2500, 3500, 3500XD, and 4500 models. The base 1500 has a payload capacity of 3,920 pounds. The range-topping 4500 can top out at 6,823 pounds. When properly equipped, the Sprinter Cargo Van can tow up to 7,500 pounds.

Depending on the trim and setup, the Sprinter Cargo is available with one of three engines. The base gas four-cylinder turbocharged engine makes 188 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. There’s also a 4-cylinder turbodiesel engine that makes 161 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. Buyers can also select a 6-cylinder turbodiesel engine that makes 188 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque. With all engines, power is sent to the rear wheels. The six-cylinder diesel is also available with four-wheel drive and dual-rear-axle setups. The gas engine routes power through a nine-speed automatic transmission, while the diesel engines route their power through a seven-speed automatic.

The Sprinter comes with a straightforward AM/FM stereo with Bluetooth and a USB-C port. An available Premium Package upgrades the stereo to a 7-inch touchscreen, and a Premium Plus Package further upgrades the touchscreen to a 10.3-inch unit with navigation. This package also includes wireless device charging. More than just packages, Mercedes offers various upfit services so that you can have your Sprinter perfectly geared-out for your industry. Whether you are an electrician or a plumber, or you work in the delivery or HVAC industries, there is an upfit package designed for the Sprinter.

The Sprinter Cargo van comes standard with automatic emergency braking. Other safety features, such as lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and a 360-degree parking monitor all cost extra.

Base MSRP for the 2022 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo Van is $38,300. Prices can climb significantly from there, depending on configuration and customization options. The Sprinter is backed by a 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
