Used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS for Sale nearSaint Louis, MO

How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS cost?

Prices have softened 15.42% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 921 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 5/5 user-rated SUV with a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2022 GLS is positioned as Mercedes’ flagship three-row SUV, so it’s aimed at you if you want a large, upscale family vehicle with a premium badge and a spacious cabin. The expert review also highlights its stylish design, powerful engine, and roomy interior as core strengths.

The trade-offs are worth weighing: the ride quality is poor, advanced safety features are not standard, and the ergonomic design is also a weak point. If you value presence, luxury, and space more than sharp handling or a fully loaded standard feature set, it still makes sense.

37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The GLS is built around a strong luxury-first mission, with a smooth inline-six powertrain and standard all-wheel drive that support everyday usability. The expert review also notes that the six-cylinder engine provides more than enough muscle for this big SUV, and the mild-hybrid assist is blended in nicely.

Its standard air suspension and premium cabin equipment point to a vehicle designed for comfort and refinement, though the review also notes poor body control over bumps and in corners. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a large, complex luxury SUV can be expensive to keep in top shape if prior maintenance was neglected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a large luxury SUV with lots of standard and optional equipment. Focus on cabin condition, suspension behavior, and whether the vehicle’s features work as expected, since the GLS leans heavily on comfort and technology.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base GLS 450 form is more subtle and less flashy than the higher-performance and Maybach versions, and the test car’s fairly basic interior lacked reclining seats. That means you should pay close attention to whether the equipment level matches your expectations.
• Powertrain: The GLS 450 uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission and EQ Boost mild-hybrid assistance. The gasoline engine makes 362 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque, and the electric motor can add 21 hp and 184 lb-ft in short bursts.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera system, Crosswind Assist, parking assist, and Pre Safe. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, second-row side airbags, and more advanced driver-assistance features cost extra.
• Infotainment: The standard MBUX system includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, navigation, SiriusXM satellite radio, and natural-language voice recognition. A 13-speaker Burmester audio system is standard, and a head-up display is optional.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings are 20 mpg combined, 18 mpg city, and 24 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS is offered in 1 trim level: GLS 450 4Matic.

Here's the short version:

The GLS 450 4Matic is the only version available for this model year, so your decision is really about whether the standard equipment and luxury-first mission fit your needs. It brings the strong inline-six powertrain, standard AWD, air suspension, and a well-equipped cabin, making it the clear choice if you want the GLS experience without waiting for higher-output variants to return.

Mercedes does leave some important features off the standard list, including adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist, so you should factor those options into your search if they matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 921 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $45,824, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS's resale value?

The current average of $45,826 sits slightly below last year's $54,183.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment level rather than assuming the model will hold its price automatically.

Because the GLS is a flagship luxury SUV with strong appeal for space and prestige, well-kept examples should still attract interest from used buyers. But the softer pricing trend means you’ll want to be realistic about depreciation if you plan to sell later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS does not have published IIHS or NHTSA crash-test ratings in the provided data.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, a driver-attention monitor, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, a surround-view camera system, Crosswind Assist, parking assist, and Pre Safe. Mercedes also includes a feature that can warn if it’s unsafe to open a door when parked.

The main caveat is that Mercedes leaves a lot of advanced safety tech on the options list. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, second-row side airbags, and several more advanced driver-assistance features are not standard, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz GLS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Mercedes withdrew most V8 models for this year, leaving the base six-cylinder GLS 450 4Matic as the only version available.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $46,108, the 2021 costs more than the current year's $45,826 average.
• It emphasizes comfort above all else while still offering multiple powertrain options and impressive technology.

The bottom line: If you want the current-year GLS at a softer price and are fine with the six-cylinder-only lineup, the 2022 is the cleaner buy. If you’re shopping strictly on price, the 2021 doesn’t offer a lower average cost here, so the 2022 is the better starting point unless a specific 2021 listing is unusually well equipped or discounted.
