How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.13% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 794 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and conditions.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — 4.7/5 is a strong user rating for this model year. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it combines an unmistakable military-grade shape with a thoroughly modern luxury-SUV experience. Its strengths are clear: incredible off-road ability, a lavish cabin, and a strong sense of occasion every time you drive it. For you, that means this is a compelling choice if you want style, capability, and presence as much as practicality.

34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class was redesigned in 2019, and the newer structure brought modern systems, lightweight structural materials, a plusher interior, electric power steering, and a flat-panel dashboard with two 12.3-inch displays running Mercedes’ MBUX infotainment system. That combination points to a more modern ownership experience than the old-school shape might suggest. Even so, the G-Class is expensive to buy and maintain, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is tied more to running costs than to the vehicle’s core appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus your inspection on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and any evidence of hard use. Because this model is expensive to buy and maintain, condition matters a lot, so pay close attention to the cabin, electronics, and overall mechanical presentation. If possible, compare several examples side by side so you can spot the cleanest, best-kept truck.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep bargain-bin pricing.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 794 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $157,720, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $157,720 sits slightly below last year's $169,837.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more carefully now, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if prices continue to normalize. For a seller, the upside is that this model still has strong desirability thanks to its distinctive design and luxury appeal. If you keep mileage, condition, and history in strong shape, you should be better positioned when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $135,557, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $157,720 average.
• It keeps the rugged, blocky look while pairing it with a luxury interior and sophisticated powertrain.

The 2022 is the better primary choice if you want the newer market position and a still-strong deal environment. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more price-sensitive path and still delivers the G-Class character you’re likely shopping for.
