How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,180 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — it earns 5/5 from users and 8.2/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The 2022 E-Class leans into luxury, variety, and polish rather than a full redesign, and it still offers multiple body styles plus turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder powertrains. The overview also points to useful updates like standard automatic high-beam headlights and rear USB charging ports in coupe and convertible models.

With 32.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitively priced example.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 E-Class is described as a well-established luxury model that builds on a substantial refresh, and the expert notes emphasize its polished execution and broad appeal. The performance writeup also highlights a robust turbocharged setup with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology, which supports smooth response and efficiency-minded engineering.

Mercedes also includes a maintenance perk in the ownership experience through the broader value proposition of the model’s premium equipment and engineering, though the car’s complexity means upkeep can still be expensive over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a highly optioned luxury car can become costly if prior maintenance was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks the electronics, suspension, and convertible-specific hardware if you’re shopping a Cabriolet. Focus on condition and maintenance records, because this is a premium car where deferred upkeep can become expensive.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, with E350, E450, and AMG E53 variants mentioned. The base E350 is the most restrained version, while the AMG E53 adds the more aggressive styling and richer equipment seen in the test vehicle.
• Powertrain: Sedans come with a turbocharged four-cylinder, while the E450 uses a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. The AMG E53 uses a more powerful version of that six-cylinder setup, and the lineup no longer includes the V8-powered AMG variants.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: The E-Class uses MBUX with two 12.3-inch screens, plus Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also offers WiFi service and an augmented reality navigation overlay, and a head-up display is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The E450’s mild-hybrid setup is designed to improve both power output and efficiency, but no MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: E350, E450, AMG E53.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the entry point if you want the E-Class experience with the turbocharged four-cylinder and the core luxury feel. It makes the most sense if you care more about getting into the model than chasing extra performance or high-end equipment.
• E450: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology while keeping the E-Class’s upscale character intact. If you want the strongest balance of smooth power and everyday luxury, start here.
• AMG E53: Choose this if you want the more powerful AMG-tuned version of the six-cylinder, along with the sportier character and equipment seen in the test vehicle. It suits you best if performance matters more than value.

Most other safety features are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,180 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,962, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $38,997 sits slightly below last year's $42,079.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If demand stays steady, a well-kept example should remain easier to resell than a neglected one, especially if it has desirable equipment and clean history.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Cabriolet also adds pop-up rollbars for rollover protection, and the AMG E53 includes Active Parking Assist and a surround-view camera system.

Most other driver aids are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package, which adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 lineup keeps the refreshed E-Class formula intact while adding standard automatic high-beam headlights and rear USB charging ports in coupe and convertible models.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $35,936, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,997 average.
• It offers a wide range of personalities, with four body styles, four engines, and strong customization potential.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the newer used-market pricing trend, strong safety, and the updated equipment mix. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2021 is the better value play because it delivers much of the same versatility for less money.
