Used 2022 Mazda CX-9 for Sale nearHarrisburg, PA

How much does the 2022 Mazda CX-9 cost?

Prices have softened 12.03% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 665 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 8.3/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth and comfortable ride, the spacious interior, and the luxurious features at a good price. They also appreciate the performance and power in everyday commuting, which fits the CX-9’s polished, near-luxury character.

The main trade-offs are a cramped third row and unintuitive technology, so you should weigh those against your passenger-space needs and how much you value a more upscale driving experience.

With 36.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe the CX-9 as smooth, comfortable, and luxurious, and they also point to performance and power they can count on in daily commuting. The expert evaluation also describes it as having an excellent reputation for reliability and notes that Mazda has built a strong reputation for dependable, sporty vehicles.

Mazda’s approach to the turbocharged engine gives you a clear regular-vs-premium fuel choice, which can help you balance performance and ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the vehicle has been maintained well, especially if you want to preserve that premium feel over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mazda CX-9?

At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of the body, interior, and electronics. Because the CX-9’s appeal depends heavily on refinement, you’ll want to focus on condition, signs of wear, and whether the technology works the way you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is stylish and upscale, and the 10.25-inch infotainment screen sits high on the dash. Base models miss some of the richer equipment found higher up the lineup, so compare interior materials and convenience features carefully.
• Powertrain: All trims use a SKYACTIV-G 2.5-liter turbo-four with a six-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. Output varies with fuel choice, with 227 horsepower on regular gas and 250 horsepower on premium gas.
• Safety package: The CX-9 includes a broad standard suite with blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and parking sensors. Carbon Edition and above add a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes Mazda Connect, a 10.25-inch display, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and a six-speaker audio system. Wireless device charging is standard on Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, and Signature, and navigation comes on Grand Touring and Signature.
• Fuel efficiency: The CX-9’s current rating is the model’s one glaring weakness, so you should factor fuel use into your ownership budget.

Which 2022 Mazda CX-9 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 is offered in 6 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Carbon Edition, Grand Touring, Signature, and Touring Plus.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core CX-9 experience with the stylish design, premium-feeling cabin, and standard all-wheel drive. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you should expect fewer convenience and luxury touches than the higher trims.
• Touring: This trim adds more comfort and convenience equipment, and it’s the first step up if you want a better daily-driver experience without jumping too far in price. It’s a sensible middle-ground choice if you want more features but don’t need the top-end luxury extras.
• Carbon Edition: This trim adds a more upscale feel and brings in features like standard SiriusXM, a wireless charging pad, and additional safety equipment such as a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking. It stands out as a strong value if you want a richer feature set without going all the way to the top trims.
• Grand Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds Mazda Navigation, the Active Driving Display, standard Bose audio, and more premium tech. If you want the CX-9’s upscale personality to feel fully realized, this is the trim to target.
• Signature: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the most premium presentation and the fullest equipment list. It suits you best if you want the most upscale CX-9 experience and are willing to pay for it.
• Touring Plus: This trim sits above Touring and below the upper luxury trims, giving you a more feature-rich setup than the lower entry models. It’s worth considering if you want extra equipment but don’t need the full Signature treatment.

Carbon Edition and above add a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking.

If you find a listing below $23,538, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $23,610 sits slightly below last year's $26,838.

That decline suggests the CX-9 has become more affordable on the used market, which can help you buy in at a lower entry point. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim appeal rather than on broad market momentum alone.

Because the model still has strong owner satisfaction and a premium reputation, well-kept examples should remain easier to sell than neglected ones. Higher trims with desirable equipment may also hold buyer interest better than stripped-down versions.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mazda CX-9 safe?

The 2022 Mazda CX-9 received a Top Safety Pick + rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it also received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, hill-launch assist, tire pressure monitoring, front and rear parking sensors, and child-seat anchors. Carbon Edition and above add a driver attention monitor and reverse automatic emergency braking.

Should I buy a 2022 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 74% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 combines a premium-feeling cabin with strong safety ratings and a polished driving experience.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $21,868, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,610 average.
• The 2021 blends style, performance, technology, and safety in a premium package.

The bottom line: Choose the 2022 if you want the stronger current-market value story, solid inventory, and the CX-9’s upscale character. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the better price-sensitive path.
