Used 2022 MINI Cooper for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2022 MINI Cooper cost?

Prices have softened 2.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 476 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper a good car?

Yes — the 2022 MINI Cooper earns a 5/5 user rating and a 5.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

It stands out as a premium small car with a strong personality and a high degree of customization, and it is based on BMW engineering. That makes it appealing if you want a car that feels distinctive and highly tailored to your tastes.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, cargo space is limited, and value for money is a weak point. Even so, its fuel efficiency and unusual level of personalization help define its appeal.

There are 41.6% good or great deals in the market, which suggests you have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 MINI Cooper is presented as a more technologically advanced refresh, and its BMW-based platform and BMW engines support its engineering credibility. The available information also points to a car that is built around a premium small-car formula rather than a stripped-down economy approach.

Its performance and equipment mix suggest a car that can feel well sorted when properly configured, especially if you prioritize the stronger engine and the available technology. The value case depends heavily on how you equip it, since the model is designed to be personalized rather than priced as a bargain.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a poorly chosen example may leave you with the compromises of the base setup without the payoff of the better-equipped versions.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you are considering a car with more options or a higher-performance setup. Focus on overall condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained and equipped.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup emphasizes Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works specification, with Classic, Signature, or Iconic trim choices. The base setup is less compelling than the better-equipped versions, so pay close attention to feature content before you buy.
• Powertrain: The Cooper uses a turbocharged 1.5-liter three-cylinder engine, while the Cooper S and John Cooper Works versions add more power. The base engine is the weakest point, so the stronger setups are the ones to target if you want a more satisfying drive.
• Safety package: Driving Assistant is standard and includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.
• Infotainment: The standard setup includes an 8.8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and a digital instrument cluster. Android Auto is not available, while navigation, wireless smartphone charging, and a Harman Kardon sound system are available.
• Fuel efficiency: The Cooper is described as fuel-efficient, and the test car returned 27.1 mpg in mixed driving.

Which 2022 MINI Cooper trim should I buy?

The 2022 MINI Cooper is offered in 3 trim levels: Cooper, Cooper S, and John Cooper Works.

Here's the short version:

• Cooper: This is the entry point, but the base engine is described as underwhelming, so it makes the most sense only if you care most about the MINI look and personality.
• Cooper S: This is the best-value choice for most shoppers because it adds the stronger turbocharged engine and a much more satisfying performance balance.
• John Cooper Works: Choose this if you want the most powerful and enthusiast-focused version, but it is the least practical path if you are trying to control cost.

The standard Driving Assistant package adds forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning, while adaptive cruise control is available only with an automatic transmission.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 MINI Cooper?

It looks like a buyer’s market right now, especially if you are willing to compare listings carefully and move quickly on a strong example.

• Deal availability: 41.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 476 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.89% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,267, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 MINI Cooper's resale value?

The current average of $22,972 sits slightly below last year's $23,656.

That price movement suggests the model has softened a bit, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation.

Because the model’s appeal is tied to personality, customization, and brand identity, well-kept examples should continue to attract interest from the right shoppers. The market is likely to reward cars that are clean, well-optioned, and priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 MINI Cooper safe?

The 2022 MINI Cooper does not have published crash-test ratings from NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 3/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard Driving Assistant suite includes forward-collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, and lane-departure warning. Adaptive cruise control is available with an automatic transmission, but blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is not available.

That missing blind-spot coverage matters because visibility can be challenging with the top raised, so you should pay close attention to how the car feels in real-world driving and parking situations.

Should I buy a 2022 MINI Cooper or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 41.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The refreshed model adds standard LED headlights, a standard 8.8-inch touchscreen, and newly standard digital instrumentation.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,606, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,972 average.
• It offers quirky design and nostalgia-driven personality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,520, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $22,972 average.
• It adds a limited-run Resolute Edition and new paint colors.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around pick if you want the refreshed features and a healthy used-car market. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want the newest styling touches and do not mind paying more, the 2023 is the alternative to consider.
