How much does the 2022 Lexus IS cost?

There are 840 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Lexus IS earns 5/5 from owners and an 8.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, quiet ride, and reliable performance, and many also like the powerful V6 and available all-wheel drive. In expert testing, it comes across as fun to drive with easy-to-use technology and standard advanced safety features. For you, that means it fits best if you want a compact luxury sedan with a sporty personality rather than a purely comfort-first commuter.

The main trade-offs are a noisy cabin, limited cargo space, and poor value for money. Even so, the market still shows 35.5% good or great deals, which helps offset some of the pricing sting.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as reliable and dependable, with performance they feel they can count on over time. The expert drive notes also emphasize comfort, quality, and dependability, which supports the idea that this is a car built for steady long-term use. Lexus also includes the first scheduled maintenance visit on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about finding a well-kept example with a clean history and consistent maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every listing and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been driven hard or modified. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, brake condition, and any signs that the car’s sporty character has been used more aggressively than average. Because this model blends luxury and performance, the best examples are the ones that show careful ownership rather than just low mileage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim adds triple-beam headlights, a navigation system, a surround-view monitoring system, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system, and a power rear window shade, while the base setup still includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM satellite radio.
• Powertrain: The lineup includes a 5.0-liter V8 with 472 hp and 395 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive. Lexus also claims a 0-60 mph time of 4.4 seconds.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models and includes lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, and collision-prevention technologies. Some functions can be overly aggressive in certain traffic and road situations.
• Infotainment: The system uses an 8-inch touchscreen, with a 10.3-inch touchscreen and navigation on Premium trim. Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, SiriusXM satellite radio, WiFi hotspot connectivity, and voice command are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The official EPA fuel economy rating is 20 mpg in combined driving, and the expert evaluation recorded 17.7 mpg during testing.

Which 2022 Lexus IS trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus IS is offered in 1 trim level: IS 500 F Sport Performance.

Here's the short version:

The IS 500 F Sport Performance is the one to buy if you want the full V8 experience, strong performance, and the most distinctive character in the lineup. It adds the 5.0-liter V8, rear-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic, adaptive variable suspension, a rear performance damper, and upgraded brakes, so it suits you best if driving enjoyment matters more than fuel savings or value. The Premium trim is the best-equipped version mentioned in the data, with the navigation system, surround-view monitor, and Mark Levinson audio system.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and deal activity to make shopping worthwhile if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 840 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 76.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,691, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $36,691 sits slightly below last year's $37,947.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the current trend means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim desirability rather than broad market appreciation. Well-kept examples should still attract attention because the model has a strong enthusiast appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS safe?

The 2022 Lexus IS earns the highest overall rating of “Top Safety Pick+” from IIHS and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA. It earns four-star ratings in frontal crash and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA tests.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models, and it includes lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance, collision warning, and collision-prevention technologies. In testing, the lane-departure warning’s steering-wheel vibration and the lane-centering system worked well in some situations, but the curve-speed reduction and low-speed automatic braking could be overly aggressive. That means the safety hardware is strong, but you should still pay attention to how the system behaves in real-world driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 adds the IS 500 F Sport Performance, bringing a V8 and a major performance boost.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $33,913, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $36,691 average.
• It offers multiple powertrain options.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest performance and the freshest version of this generation, the 2022 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the core IS personality.
