How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee cost?

Prices have softened 12.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 8,370 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 4.86/5 user rating, and the expert test drive score is 8/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the luxurious feel, impressive safety features, and quality interior materials like leather. The Grand Cherokee also stands out for its multiple powertrain options and great ride quality, which help it work well as both a daily driver and a more adventurous SUV.

The main trade-offs are a cramped back seat and weak value for money, so you should weigh comfort and capability against space and cost. For shoppers who want a premium-feeling SUV with real versatility, that balance may still make sense.

The market backs that up, with 37.1% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee reliable?

Owners rate it 4.86/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with repeated praise for the luxurious feel, safety features, and interior quality that owners can count on over time. The expert review also emphasizes the Grand Cherokee’s strong everyday driving character and broad capability, which supports the sense that it is built to handle long-term use with confidence.

Jeep also includes three complimentary oil changes and tire rotations during the first 36 months of ownership, which helps reduce early maintenance hassle. For used buyers, the bigger long-term risk is that higher-complexity versions can be more expensive to own if you choose the wrong trim or equipment.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on condition, wear, and any signs of off-road use or neglected maintenance. It also makes sense to compare trims closely, since equipment and complexity vary a lot across the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Laredo is the simplest and most affordable version, while Trailhawk is the off-road-focused choice and Summit Reserve is the luxury-oriented top end. Lower trims use a more functional matte-black finish, while higher trims can add more upscale materials and features, but some glossy controls can be harder to use because of reflections.
• Powertrain: You can choose rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with V6 and V8 engine options. The V6 is the more efficient choice and still delivers good acceleration and passing power, while the V8 adds stronger output and towing capacity but uses more fuel.
• Safety package: Active Driving Assist is the key driver-assistance suite, combining adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is also included, and the system can disconnect on tighter curves, so you still need to stay engaged.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is standard, with over-the-air updates, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Amazon Alexa integration, SiriusXM 360L, voice recognition, and voice text reply capability. Most trims get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while a 10.1-inch screen is available on all but the Laredo and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates range from 17 mpg in combined driving with the V8 and 4WD to 21 mpg with the V6 and any drivetrain. In testing, results ranged from 17 mpg with the V8 and Quadra-Trac II to 21.3 mpg with the V6 and Quadra-Trac I.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee is offered in 7 trim levels: Laredo, Altitude, Limited, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• Laredo: This is the value play if you want the Grand Cherokee’s core style and capability without paying for extras. It makes the most sense if you care more about the SUV’s basic strengths than luxury add-ons.
• Altitude: This trim adds a bit more visual appeal while staying close to the lower end of the lineup. It suits you if you want a nicer look without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Limited: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it sits in the middle of the range and unlocks more equipment without going all the way to luxury pricing. It also pairs with the simpler 4WD setup, which keeps the formula approachable.
• Trailhawk: Choose this if off-road capability is your priority. It adds the most serious trail hardware, including Quadra-Drive II, an electronic locking rear differential, air suspension, skid plates, and off-road-focused features.
• Overland: This trim is the step up if you want more capability and refinement together. It can bring the more advanced 4WD system and suits buyers who want a more premium feel without going all the way to the top.
• Summit: This is the luxury-leaning choice for shoppers who want a more upscale cabin and more available equipment. It also can be paired with the more advanced 4WD hardware.
• Summit Reserve: This is the plushest version, with premium quilted and stitched leather, heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats, a McIntosh audio system, and a panoramic sunroof. It is the right pick if you want the most luxurious Grand Cherokee experience.

The safety package is a strong part of the lineup, but some advanced driver-assistance features are not equally emphasized across every trim, so check equipment carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward comparison shopping.

• Deal availability: 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 8,370 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.02% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,445, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $26,445 sits slightly below last year's $30,059.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may pressure future resale if depreciation continues at the same pace. If you plan to sell later, the strongest protection is buying well now and choosing a trim that stays broadly desirable.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.86/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee safe?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep equips it with Active Driving Assist, which combines adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability and lane-centering assistance. Intersection Collision Assist is also included, and the structure uses extensive aluminum and high-strength steel for added protection.

One caveat is that the system can disconnect on tighter curves, so you still need to stay alert and ready to take over. That makes it a strong safety package, but not a substitute for attentive driving.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.86/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned 2022 brings a major technology and sophistication upgrade while keeping the Grand Cherokee’s core capability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,137, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $26,445 average.
• It offers a familiar Grand Cherokee formula with stylish design, premium materials, and strong handling.

The 2022 is the better pick if you want the redesigned SUV with more technology, stronger appeal, and broader capability. If your priority is spending less up front and you’re comfortable with the older version’s simpler setup, the 2021 is the value-oriented alternative.
