overall

Summary
With 1,878 currently listed for sale and an average price of $27,231.00, 36.4% of 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xes for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 4 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
91.8% of 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe stands out as the most efficient Grand Cherokee ever, assuming you keep it charged. It brings a new plug-in hybrid powertrain to the Grand Cherokee lineup, adding 25 miles of all-electric driving while still promising the off-road capability Jeep buyers expect. That combination makes it distinctive: it is aimed at shoppers who want the Grand Cherokee’s traditional trail-ready character with a more efficiency-minded twist.
It also has a stylish design and impressive technology, which help broaden its appeal beyond pure utility. At the same time, the cabin is not perfect, since the interior materials feel cheap. Even so, the 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe is notable for pairing efficiency, capability, and modern features in a way that gives this version of the Grand Cherokee a clear identity.

The vehicle is absolutely beautiful and I love it.. the features are amazing and it’s a blast to drive, super comfortable and smooth — Although, I do feel the plug in feature is useless. It runs out of battery extremely fast and takes way too long to charge. This technology is still to new and needs time to be advanced. I’d recommend getting the gas powered model over the hybrid.

Its a beautiful Suv, ot to mention it gets almost 60mpg due to it being a 4xe, it also delivers a satisfying 375 HP with almost 400 in torque, has the power when you need it, also has a Hybrid battery that takes only 2hrs to charge ( on a slow charger, faster at home to charge ) the battery also gives you almost 30 mile range to get you to the nearest gas station. Range, roughly over a 1,000 on a full tank

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe a good car?
Generally — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe earns 4/5 from users and 7.83/10 from experts, which points to a strong overall case if you want a plug-in hybrid SUV with a clear identity. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.
It pairs a new plug-in hybrid powertrain with 25 miles of all-electric driving and the traditional off-road capability Jeep buyers expect. That makes it especially appealing if you want efficiency-minded commuting without giving up the Grand Cherokee’s trail-ready character.
The main trade-offs are the cabin materials, which feel cheap, and the fact that the 4xe sacrifices towing capacity versus gas-powered versions. Even so, the combination of style, capability, and modern features gives this version a distinct role in the lineup.
Good and great deals account for 35.7% of listings, so you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe reliable?
Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2022 Grand Cherokee 4xe is built around a plug-in hybrid setup that can deliver strong efficiency when you keep it charged, and the expert evaluation highlights its impressive powertrain output and useful electric driving range. That combination suggests a vehicle designed to do more than just save fuel; it also aims to deliver everyday versatility with Jeep capability.
The expert notes also point to a well-rounded package of performance modes and regenerative braking, which can help the drivetrain feel more adaptable in daily use. On the cost side, the model benefits from a federal tax credit and can recoup its premium more quickly if you plug it in regularly.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term ownership risk is buying one that was rarely charged, since that can erase much of the efficiency advantage you’re paying for.
What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a plug-in hybrid where charging habits matter. Focus on overall condition, cabin wear, and whether the vehicle has been maintained and used in a way that matches the efficiency promise of the 4xe.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Even the base 4xe feels upscale, but higher trims add amenities like leather seats, wood and metal accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and more premium cabin detailing. The base trim also misses some features that appear higher up the range, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best value.
- Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged engine with a battery pack for 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque, plus 56 MPGe and 25 miles of electric range when conditions are ideal. You should verify that the battery and charging behavior match the seller’s claims.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert. Intersection-collision assist is optional on lower trims and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve, while front parking sensors and the surround-view camera vary by trim.
- Infotainment: Uconnect 5 brings a customizable interface, and the Grand Cherokee 4xe includes a 10.25-inch front-passenger display on the base trim, a 10.25-inch digital driver display on all trims, wireless charging as an option, and four USB ports standard. The McIntosh audio system is a major upgrade, but it is not available on the base 4xe or Trailhawk.
- Fuel efficiency: The model is rated at 56 MPGe with a full battery, returns 23 mpg once the battery is depleted, and offers 25 miles of all-electric range. Those figures make charging habits a key part of ownership.
Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe trim should I buy?
The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is offered in 5 trim levels: base 4xe, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.
Here's the short version:
- base 4xe: This is the entry point, but it still brings a lot of standard equipment and gives you the core plug-in hybrid experience. It makes sense if you want the 4xe powertrain at the lowest starting price and can live without some of the luxury and convenience upgrades found higher up.
- Trailhawk: This is the trim to choose if off-road ability matters most. It is the most capable version in the lineup and is the best fit if you want the Jeep character to be the main reason you buy the vehicle.
- Overland: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more premium cabin with leather, wood and metal accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and a richer overall feel without jumping all the way to the top end.
- Summit: This trim pushes further into luxury territory and adds more advanced equipment, including standard intersection-collision assist and a standard surround-view camera. It suits you if you want a more fully loaded SUV.
- Summit Reserve: This is the most upscale choice, with the most complete feature set and standard McIntosh audio. It makes sense if you want the most luxurious Grand Cherokee 4xe experience.
For safety-package shoppers, note that intersection-collision assist becomes standard on Summit and Summit Reserve, while the surround-view camera is standard on those trims as well.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?
This is a moderate, selective-buyer market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.
- Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,911 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.90% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $27,163.91, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's resale value?
The current average of $27,150 sits slightly below last year's $33,477.
That price decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. If you plan to sell later, the key will be whether the model continues to hold appeal as a distinctive plug-in hybrid SUV with Jeep capability.
Because this vehicle combines a recognizable nameplate with a unique powertrain, demand should remain tied to how well it fits shoppers who want both efficiency and utility. A well-kept example with strong equipment and charging-friendly ownership history should be easier to move than one that looks neglected or was rarely plugged in.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Jeep equips the Grand Cherokee 4xe with automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert. That gives you a solid standard safety foundation, while intersection-collision assist is available on lower trims and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve.
Front parking sensors require an upgrade or a higher trim, and the surround-view camera is standard only on Summit and Summit Reserve. Jeep also says a hands-off driver-assistance suite is coming, but it requires additional hardware and was not available to early buyers via an OTA update.
Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2022 if:
- 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.7% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 18.90% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It introduces the plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee formula with 25 miles of electric driving and strong off-road capability.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $28,820, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $27,150 average.
- It adds a new 30th Anniversary model and fresh visual updates.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because prices have eased and the model already delivers the core 4xe experience. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer example with cosmetic updates and a broader lineup, the 2023 is the secondary path to consider.
