How much does the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe cost?

Prices have softened 14.66% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,253 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 8/10.

The 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe stands out as an electrified midsize SUV with real off-road credibility, and the Trailhawk 4xe is described as a standout when the pavement ends. It also brings stylish design, which helps it feel more distinctive than a purely utility-focused SUV.

The trade-offs are clear: the powertrain is described as unrefined, electric-only driving range is only adequate compared with other plug-in hybrids, and the Trailhawk’s all-terrain tires compromise on-pavement handling. It fits you best if you value capability and the plug-in hybrid format more than everyday polish.

The market shows 39.0% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Grand Cherokee 4xe is presented as a capable plug-in hybrid SUV with strong off-road hardware and a premium positioning, but its appeal depends on how you plan to use it. The expert data also points to a powertrain that can feel unrefined, so reliability for you is less about outright failure and more about whether the vehicle’s character matches your ownership expectations.

The performance notes emphasize a robust plug-in hybrid setup with a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, an electric motor, and a battery pack, plus standard 4WD and a two-speed transfer case. Jeep also says the Trailhawk can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

Jeep says you can recharge the battery overnight using a standard household outlet, which is a practical ownership perk if you can plug in at home.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is that the Jeep’s strengths are specialized, so you should expect the best ownership experience only if you regularly use its capability and keep up with charging.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the vehicle has been used off-road or in harsh weather. Focus on cabin condition, tire wear, and signs that the suspension or underbody has been stressed. If you’re considering a Trailhawk, make sure the equipment and trim-specific features are all present and functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the base trim, 30th Anniversary, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. The base trim is the entry point, while the Trailhawk adds sky blue exterior detailing, a matte-black hood decal, unique wheels, more aggressive all-terrain tires, and the Trail Rated badge.
• Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with a 17.3-kilowatt-hour battery pack and an 8-speed automatic transmission with an integrated 100-kilowatt electric motor. Jeep says it produces 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a reversing camera with rear parking sensors. The Trailhawk adds active blind-spot monitoring, and the Advanced ProTech Group II adds intersection assist, a surround-view camera, front parking sensors, automatic reverse braking, and Night Vision. Jeep Active Drive is unavailable on the Trailhawk.
• Infotainment: The Trailhawk uses a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, navigation, Jeep Connect services, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and an Alpine premium sound system. It also includes a 10.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 10.3-inch front passenger screen.
• Fuel efficiency: The Grand Cherokee 4xe provides an EPA-estimated 25 miles of all-electric range and 23 mpg in combined driving when used as a hybrid vehicle. In testing, it averaged 19.3 mpg in Auto mode after the battery was depleted.

Which 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is offered in 6 trim levels: base trim, 30th Anniversary, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• base trim: This is the starting point if you want the plug-in hybrid Grand Cherokee experience without moving up the price ladder. It gives you the core 4xe formula, but the available content makes clear that the more distinctive equipment and capability live higher up the range.
• 30th Anniversary: This trim adds a special-edition angle to the lineup and helps broaden the 2023 family. It makes sense if you want something a little more distinctive than the base model without jumping all the way to the more expensive luxury-oriented trims.
• Trailhawk: This is the best-value choice if you care most about off-road ability. It adds the Trail Rated badge, aggressive all-terrain tires, unique styling details, and the hardware that makes it the most capable version in the lineup.
• Overland: This trim sits above the Trailhawk and is aimed more at comfort and upscale use than trail duty. It suits you if you want a more premium-feeling Grand Cherokee 4xe without going to the top of the range.
• Summit: This is the more luxury-focused step up for shoppers who want a richer feature set and a more upscale presentation. It’s the right fit if you care more about refinement than ruggedness.
• Summit Reserve: This is the top trim and the most expensive choice in the lineup. It’s for you if you want the most fully equipped Grand Cherokee 4xe and are willing to pay for it.

The Trailhawk is the only trim explicitly called out as unavailable with Jeep Active Drive.

• Inventory: There are 3,253 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.66% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,284, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's resale value?

The current average of $27,284 sits slightly below last year's $31,971.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the current average or below, you’re starting from a more favorable price base than last year’s shoppers had.

The year-round range also shows that values have stayed anchored near the current average, which points to a relatively stable pricing floor. For a future seller, that means condition and trim choice will matter a lot when it comes time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe safe?

The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with a four-star rating for driver protection in a frontal-impact collision. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety says the 2023 Grand Cherokee earns a Top Safety Pick+ safety rating, though the updated moderate overlap frontal-impact test received a Poor rating in the evaluation cited here.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep equips the Grand Cherokee 4xe with adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a reversing camera with rear parking sensors. The Trailhawk adds active blind-spot monitoring, and the Advanced ProTech Group II adds intersection assist, a surround-view camera, front parking sensors, automatic reverse braking, and Night Vision.

You should pay close attention to the IIHS caveat in the updated moderate overlap frontal-impact test, since that result is a meaningful warning sign even with the strong overall ratings.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.66% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds new gloss black exterior accents and a new 30th Anniversary model to the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $26,218, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,284 average.
• It emphasizes the Grand Cherokee 4xe’s efficient plug-in hybrid setup and off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the newer model-year mix of updated styling and broader trim choice, the 2023 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2023 lineup changes, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path.
