Used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe for Sale near Illinois

How much does the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe cost?

Prices have softened 17.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,713 listings available, which suggests you have a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe a good car?

Generally — the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe earns a 4/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

It stands out as the most efficient Grand Cherokee ever when you keep it charged, and it adds 25 miles of all-electric driving while preserving the off-road capability you expect from a Grand Cherokee. It also brings stylish design and impressive technology, which broaden its appeal beyond efficiency alone.

The main trade-offs are that the interior materials feel cheap and the towing rating is lower than the gas V6 and V8 versions. That makes it a better fit if you want a fuel-conscious SUV with Jeep character than if you prioritize cabin polish or maximum towing.

The market looks fairly accessible, with 38.6% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is built around a plug-in hybrid setup that pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with a battery pack, and the expert data describes it as the most fuel-efficient Grand Cherokee ever built when charged regularly. It also uses regenerative braking and selectable powertrain modes, which can help you tailor how the vehicle uses battery power.

The cost-effectiveness notes also point out that the vehicle benefits from a federal tax credit and that regular charging is key to making the ownership math work. If you skip charging habits, long-term ownership costs can rise quickly and the efficiency advantage fades.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a plug-in hybrid where charging habits matter. Focus on cabin condition, electronics, and whether the vehicle has been maintained and used in a way that matches its efficiency advantage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Even in base 4xe trim, the Grand Cherokee looks and feels comfortable, but the Overland adds leather seats, wood and metal accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and bronze contrast stitching. The base 4xe does not get the McIntosh stereo, and the Trailhawk is the most off-road-capable trim level.
• Powertrain: The plug-in hybrid setup pairs a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with a 400-volt battery pack, standard four-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 375 horsepower, 470 pound-feet of torque, 56 MPGe, and 25 miles of all-electric range when charged.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert. Intersection-collision assist is optional on lower trims and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve, while front parking sensors require an Overland, Summit, or Summit Reserve.
• Infotainment: Uconnect 5 is the infotainment system, and the Grand Cherokee 4xe includes a 10.25-inch front-passenger display on the base trim, a 10.25-inch digital driver display on all trims, wireless charging as an option, and four USB ports standard.
• Fuel efficiency: The vehicle is rated at 56 MPGe and can travel 25 miles on electric power alone. Once the battery is depleted, it is rated at 23 miles per gallon.

Which 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe trim should I buy?

The 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe is offered in 5 trim levels: base 4xe, Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve.

Here's the short version:

• base 4xe: This is the entry point, but it still feels surprisingly upscale and includes a lot of standard equipment. It makes the most sense if you want the plug-in hybrid experience at the lowest starting point.
• Trailhawk: This is the most off-road-capable trim level, and it is the one to choose if trail ability matters most to you.
• Overland: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds leather seats, wood and metal accents, heated and ventilated front seats, and a more premium cabin feel.
• Summit: This trim moves further into luxury territory and adds more advanced equipment, including standard intersection-collision assist and standard front parking sensors.
• Summit Reserve: This is the most upscale version, with the most standard luxury and tech content, including the McIntosh stereo and the standard front-passenger display.

The safety package is broad, but some features still move up the trim ladder, so check carefully if you want front parking sensors, intersection-collision assist, or the surround-view camera.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,713 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,218, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe's resale value?

The current average of $26,218 sits slightly below last year's $31,755.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle. For a future seller, that also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and whether the vehicle has been kept charged and well maintained.

Because this model year still has solid demand signals and a strong owner satisfaction rating, it should remain reasonably marketable if you keep it in good shape. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep offers a decent blend of standard and optional advanced driver-assistance systems. Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, rear parking sensors, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Intersection-collision assist is optional on lower trims and standard on Summit and Summit Reserve, while front parking sensors require an Overland, Summit, or Summit Reserve. The 360-degree surround-view camera is optional on all but Summit and Summit Reserve, where it is standard.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.4% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 model brings a plug-in hybrid powertrain with 25 miles of electric range and strong off-road capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,284, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $26,218 average.
• It adds new gloss black exterior accents.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the stronger starting point because prices have eased and inventory is available. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year and its updates, the 2023 is the secondary path to consider.
