What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Jeep Cherokee?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough inspection of the vehicle’s condition, especially signs of prior damage or inconsistent maintenance. A careful test drive matters too, so you can judge how the SUV feels in real-world driving and make sure everything operates as expected.

Because this model year has a broader reputation shaped by earlier transmission issues in the generation, it’s smart to be especially attentive to how the drivetrain behaves.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Jeep Cherokee?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,208 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $22,581, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $22,581 sits slightly below last year's $24,993.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more carefully now but may also limit upside if you plan to sell soon. If you purchase at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you give yourself a better chance of preserving value later. The current inventory mix also suggests buyers still have options, so resale performance will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle is maintained.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.65% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $18,743, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $22,581 average.
• It offers a more distinctive, tech-forward take on the Cherokee.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger feature set and broader appeal of the 2022, it’s the better primary choice. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly path and still gives you the Cherokee’s core character.
