The 2022 INFINITI Q50 stands out as a midsize premium sedan that leans on a strong mix of power, equipment, and value. It was part of a long-running first generation that stayed largely the same for years, which gave it a familiar formula rather than a constantly changing one. That formula included rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, a seven-speed automatic transmission, and a reputation for offering more standard equipment than many rivals. It also had a clear identity as a luxury sedan with sporty intent, even if its overall approach was more conservative than some newer competitors.
For 2022, the Q50’s appeal came from the way Infiniti kept loading it with features to keep it competitive. By this stage, the entry-level Q50 Pure included leatherette seat trim, a wi-fi hotspot, and support for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The mid-level Q50 Luxe added a power moonroof, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and blind-spot warning, while Q50 Luxe models by the 2024 model year also gained a Bose premium audio system, full leather seating, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration. The Q50 Red Sport 400 also had matte black carbon fiber interior trim accents by that point, reinforcing the car’s performance-oriented image.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Q50’s fuel economy was never a strong point, and its long production run meant that by the end it could feel dated next to newer rivals. Reliability is generally described as solid, but warped brakes are a common issue, and 3.0t models have been known to suffer turbo failures. Even so, the 2022 INFINITI Q50 remains appealing for buyers who want a well-equipped luxury sedan with strong engine choices and a competitive price relative to what it offers.

Seriously out of date on safety issues as cross trsffic monitoring all around cameras etc. I have owned 5 Infinites and have always thought Infiniti was ahead in technology. This model has fallen behind.
