Used 2022 Hyundai Venue for Sale near Hagerstown, MD
The Hyundai Venue may be the smallest and cheapest crossover SUV in the lineup, but its diminutive size doesn’t warrant an automatic dismissal from shopping lists. What the vehicle may lack in spunk and space, it makes up for in affordability, technology, utility, and safety.
Introduced in 2019 as a 2020 model, the Hyundai Venue was an all-new vehicle based on the Accent subcompact car. Boxier in design, the Venue could be considered a tall hatchback version of the Accent. Its square stance allows it to offer a roomier interior—at least for those occupying the front seats—and more cargo space than the average small car has. However, compared to true hatchbacks, its 18.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats (or 31.9 when the seats are down) is still a tight squeeze.
For 2022, the Hyundai Venue is a carry-over model with a few minor tweaks to its packaging. The Venue will continue to be offered in three trim levels: SE remains the entry-level model, followed by the SEL, and the Limited, which replaces the Denim trim, but only in name.
The Limited model will retain the former Denim’s exclusive combo of Denim exterior paint paired with a white roof and a Denim-colored interior. But also new for the 2022 Venue Limited is an available black rooftop that can be matched with either Galactic Gray or Ceramic White.
All Hyundai Venue models are front-wheel-drive only, but there is a snow drive mode option for SEL and Limited trims. The standard drivetrain is a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine mated to a six-speed intelligent variable transmission (IVT). Output is 121 horsepower and 113 pound-feet of torque.
The Venue doesn’t offer the most (or least) power among its competitors, but it does return respectable fuel economy numbers with 29 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined. Interestingly, even with no performance-oriented updates, the 2022 Venue does drop one mpg in the city compared to the 2021 model. Highway and combined mpg figures remained unchanged.
Pricing does jump up a tad, with the largest increase occurring to the SEL model. With an $850 bump, the 2022 Venue SEL starts at $20,650. This is likely due to the power sunroof, which was previously available as part of the Premium Package and is now standard on the model trim. The Premium Package as a whole, however, has been discontinued. The package included LED lighting, heated front seats, push-button start, and navigation. These features are now only available on the top-of-the-line Limited. Keep in mind, though, that the sunroof is an SEL-only feature.
An engine immobilizer as part of the keyless entry access is now standard on SE and SEL trims. Limited models are equipped with a smart key as standard, as Denim models were previously. This is the only update that becomes standard across the Venue lineup.
The SE and Limited see a middling MSRP increase of $150 and $100, respectively. The SE base model starts at $18,900, while the Limited starts at $22,150. Note that there are no optional packages available for any trim level, but there is a small selection of port-installed accessories to choose from.
Advanced driver-assistance safety technologies such as lane keep assist, driver attention warning, high beam assist, and forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian detection are standard across the Venue lineup. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert become standard with the SEL trim, while cyclist detection is added for Limited modes.
The 2022 Hyundai Venue received a four-star (out of five) crash safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has not yet rated the 2022 model but did name the 2021 Venue a Top Safety Pick. The vehicle received a “Good” score in all crashworthiness tests but was listed as “Acceptable” when equipped with LED headlights and “Marginal” with standard halogen projectors.
