How much does the 2022 Hyundai Tucson cost?

Prices have softened 10.52% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,795 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of inventory to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Hyundai Tucson earns a 4.82/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, excellent safety features, stylish design, and spacious interior. Those themes line up with the Tucson’s family-friendly packaging and comfortable cabin, which make it appealing if you want a compact SUV that feels roomier than many rivals.

The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and an underwhelming base engine, so you should not expect quick acceleration. Even so, the Tucson’s roomy layout and feature-rich approach make it a strong fit if comfort, practicality, and value matter more than speed.

The market also looks supportive, with 40.3% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson reliable?

Owners rate it 4.82/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers saying they are extremely satisfied with their Tucson. That kind of response usually matters most when you want a used SUV you can count on day to day.

The expert evaluation also emphasizes Hyundai’s strong warranty coverage and complimentary maintenance, which can help reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been cared for properly, since condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. A pre-purchase inspection is worth prioritizing, especially if you are comparing multiple trims or looking at higher-mileage examples. Focus on overall condition, feature operation, and signs of wear that could affect comfort or resale value.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model gets standard LED daytime running lights, Bi-LED headlights, LED front turn signals, and cloth seats, while higher trims add roof rails, heated outside mirrors with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic avoidance assist indicators and turn signals, front aero wipers, and the option of a sunroof. The cabin is described as well-appointed, and higher trims bring more upscale materials and available leather-trimmed seating.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter direct-injected four-cylinder or a turbocharged 1.6-liter hybrid setup. The gas engine makes 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, while the hybrid delivers 226 total system horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is the most fuel-efficient setup for the gas model, and all-wheel drive is standard on the hybrid.
• Safety package: Hyundai SmartSense includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Available upgrades include blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD Radio, two USB ports, and a six-speaker audio system. A 10.25-inch screen is available, but it requires a wired connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 26 mpg city, 33 mpg highway, and 29 mpg combined with front-wheel drive, or 24 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 26 mpg combined with all-wheel drive. The hybrid returns 37 mpg city, 36 mpg highway, and 37 mpg combined, and the most efficient hybrid is rated at 38 mpg city/highway/combined.

Which 2022 Hyundai Tucson trim should I buy?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, SEL, Blue, N-Line, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Tucson design, standard safety tech, wireless smartphone integration, and the 8-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Tucson, but it leaves out some of the convenience and upscale touches found higher up.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds satellite radio, Blue Link mobile app compatibility, rear-seat USB ports, rear air conditioning vents, and dual-zone automatic climate control with ionizer functionality. It also unlocks the Convenience Package, which brings many of the features found on the top-tier Limited.
• Blue: This trim is aimed at buyers who want the hybrid setup, and it pairs that efficiency with the Tucson’s standard tech and safety foundation. It is the right pick if fuel economy is a priority.
• N-Line: This trim adds a sportier look with a darkened wheel design and sport combination seats. It is the choice if you want the Tucson’s design to feel a little more expressive.
• Limited: This is the most upscale version, with leather-trimmed seats and the richest feature set in the lineup. It suits you best if you want the most comfort and convenience without stepping outside the Tucson family.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, with more advanced driver-assistance features available as you move up the trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

The market is leaning in your favor right now, with strong deal availability and a healthy supply of listings.

• Deal availability: 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,795 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.52% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,079, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson's resale value?

The current average of $20,079 sits slightly below last year's $22,441.

That price movement suggests the Tucson has become more affordable for used buyers, which can help you enter the market at a lower cost. For a future seller, though, it also means you should expect a softer resale environment than last year’s. The good news is that the Tucson’s broad appeal, strong feature content, and family-friendly packaging can help support demand when it is time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.82/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Hyundai Tucson safe?

The 2022 Hyundai Tucson has not been tested and rated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) nor the National Highway Traffic Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Hyundai SmartSense is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward collision-avoidance assist with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, a driver attention monitor, rear occupant alert, speed limit assist, and leading vehicle departure alert. Higher trims can add blind-spot warning with collision avoidance assist, rear cross-traffic alert with collision avoidance assist, safe exit warning, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, a surround-view camera system, parking collision avoidance assist, and remote parking assist.

The main caveat is that some of the more advanced safety and convenience features are reserved for higher trims or options, so you should compare equipment carefully if those systems matter to you.

Should I buy a 2022 Hyundai Tucson or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 40.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.82/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a larger body, more cargo room, and a high-tech cabin.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $17,218, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,079 average.
• It is the final model year of its generation, so it offers a familiar formula with plenty of tech and safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the roomier redesign, stronger tech presentation, and a market that currently favors buyers, the 2022 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter value play and still delivers a well-equipped compact SUV experience.
